Hello! I'm a new member!

Hi Ladies!
My name is Kate and I am an alcoholic. I am coming up on 11 months of sobriety. I think I had a "spiritual awakening" last night and I have realized just how grateful I am to be sober and how thankful I am to God for helping me to get to where I am today.
I love being sober. A year ago I was in my last days of drinking. I have been trying to think of where I was physically at this time last year. I can't remember for the life of me. I know where I was emotionally. And I know that I never want to go back there. If you told me about the job I'd have, the friends I'd have, the fact that I LIKE MYSELF - I'd have never believed you. Things aren't perfet but I can look in the mirror and like what I see. I am a good person. I am a responsible adult. I wasn't those things before.
I look forward to getting to know you all through this forum!
Thanks for listening!!
-Kate

Hey Jody! Welcome--I've enjoyed over 16 yrs of sobriety as a result of my membership/participation in AA. I went to meetings, worked the 12 steps of recovery and followed the direction of a good sponsor. It is very difficult to stay sober without support, and depending upon how long you have been drinking--you may need medical attention to be sure you are ok. But, honey and orange juice mixed together helps alot. Also, eating chocolate helps too. If you check in the phone book of the town you are in you will find numbers for AA. Give them a call and see when there is a meeting. And keep "plugged in" to this website. We are fellow sufferers who have found a way out of the hell hole of addiction. Come join us! Blessings, Queenshenique
