New Here

Greetings, I'm new here. I've hit a bottom, but possibly not the last bottom. I'm waiting now to see if I lose my job. I spent 30 days sober, then 30 days in an in-patient recovery, then promptly went on a binge when I got home --er at work. I can't even begin to talk about how shamed I am. I haven't drank since, and I'm now in a 7 month out-patient program, but it might not even matter now. If I lose my job, I'll lose my house. I'm amazed I haven't lost my husband.

One day at a time I guess.

~Kelly

Hi Kelly,

I'm glad you found us! It is amazing the shame we bring to ourselves with this addiction, isn't it? I hope you are able to keep your job and I'm glad that your husband is standing beside you. You can do this and we're here to help.

Love, Anna

Hi kelly -

We have been where you are, feeling guilt and shame over drinking/using. It gets us know where. You are alive, there is hope for recovery. Just for today, do not drink. Use the tools you are learning in these programs, reach out to others for support. And keep coming here, SR is a great place for support and friendship.

Hi Kelly
I feel for you, I know too well about the guilt and remorse of the aftermath of one of my many, many encounters with my addiction (alcohol).
The best thing we can do for ourselves is to try very hard to stay in the moment, stop beating ourselves up with memories of the past, worrying about the "what if's" of tomorrow.
I found that I needed the support and understanding of others who have my same affliction.
I think you will like it here. If you need anything just let me know.
