| just a quick hello
I'm not even sure I am posting this the right way! I am only 2 days sober, but it is a start. My problem was more with the "intensity" of drinking, not the frequency. I allowed myself that one or two nights out a week and was unable to limit my intake and usually ended up with some sort of bad story in the morning. I tackled a cocaine addiction about five years ago on my own and haven't slipped back once. Alcohol is harder for me because it is so "accepted socially" and such a huge part of society. I just was hoping that I could get some prayers from out there in cyberspace. I certainly can use all the help available. Let go and let god worked for the other addiction, I'm hoping he'll pull me out of this one too! thanks. |

Leedalee, Just use the same tools you used to kick the cocaine and you'll do fine. True though that alcohol use and even occassional over use is more accepted in our society but for me the consequences of my use are just not worth it so I prefer to abstain (not always easy though) I am saying a prayer for you tonight as per your request. Take care. |

Glad to be in a position today that I can be there to reply to another human being. Helps me to feel a connectedness with the world which is a very basic human need of mine I enjoy indulging.

Hi, Are you new here too? It felt strange to write to no one in particular, but they say that writing is a powerful tool. I just want to work out all the things in my life that need to be worked out. No more avoidance or trying to justify them. It's gonna be a long road, for sure, but hey, at least I'm on the path. How is arizona today? Cleveland is coooldd, but sunny! Take care, Lisa |

Thanks to everyone who posted a "hello". I hope to get to know everyone in time. Well, it's Saturday night and I'm staying home! No big partying going on here, just chinese hot and sour soup, spareribs, crab rangoons and hopefully a good movie. It doesn't feel "hard" yet, I imagine it will be harder after a week when my body tells me, "it's time to indulge" and all my good intentions grow dim. It's almost like another voice starts to gain control to tell my all the reasons I deserve to go out and drink. Like it's a reward for my hard week or something. That voice always wins, but not this time!!!! Have a good Saturday !! Lisa |
