| 24 hours sober in Michigan
I was here yesterday, looking for women to talk to for support. I am a total mess and I know it. I've known it for some time now, but I really need help. I am so sick of living like this...( if you can call it living!) My drinking is hurting the people that I love and I want to stop. I stopped drinking 15 years ago when I found out that I was pregnant for my first child, only to start again 5 years ago during a nasty divorce. (yes, 10 years sober in between) I have 3 beautiful children, and I lived with an alcoholic father. I said that I would NEVER be like him, and I've turned out to be the same way. I am worried about the detox process. I drink pretty heavily and cannot afford to go to a doctor. I was wondering if anyone knows the nutritional supplements that I should be taking through this? ( I was thinking at least thiamine and a good herb like valerian ...it's chemically similar to valium) ...any input???

| I don't suggest you go it alone. Think of how much money you spend on booze and how much you will save if stopped. You had the power to stop while pregnant are you worth stopping for. You are killing yourself slowly do you really want to die in front of your children., They love you and would love the sober you even more. I suggest if you can't afford detox to apply for free care. They do have free state beds for those who qualify and not having insurance I would say you qualify. If you try this on your own you may have a seizure or something worse so please seek medical attention first. We are all here for you as much as we can. I am usually here in the morning feel free to private message me. I will pray for you and I hope that you get into the recovery process safely.

I agree with bubblze, seek medical help for this. We can give you suggestions on recovery, but we are not doctors. Alcohol withdrawl is nasty. If you can't afford help, check out www.ncadd.org click on the picture of your state (under affiliates) and it will take you to a list of resources in the state where you live. I hope you find some help, and I hope to see you posting here.

charisma, I think it is a great thing you want to do. But I highly suggest (as the other two have) for you to seek some medical help. This is you life. You may want to make some calls and see what is out there to help you. Good Luck and I will keep you in my prayers! (((((charisma)))))) |
