Having a hard last few weeks

This is my first time in one of these rooms. I have been struggling alot lately. My husband told me some things about himself a week ago after which I went out on a four day drinking binge. I have always been in denial about my drinking. I always thought my problem was my drug of choice. It was really strange when the realization that I had been drinking to cover my feelings hit. I'm writing in the women's area because I am going crazy about what my husband told me. He said he liked to wear women's clothes and that he felt like he is 1/2 girl. He says he is going to wear panties now and thinks he will get better this way (he is currently in a treatment center). I know one of the catch phrases is "our secrets help keep us sick" and that this may be what he's been missing with staying sober. Anyway, back to me. He told me tonight that he shaved his arms and legs. I've been sitting here for the last 3 hrs either crying or strongly fighting the urge to go drink. How is what he's doing normal? How will this affect our boys? I think this is really sick and he's saying he hopes that I can get excited about it. How can I do that, I'm losing being married to a man. Anyway, I'm not sure if I can talk about this here, but I don't know what else to do. Thanks.

Welcome to SR. I'm glad you found us.

You're right that your husband must have shared his secret with you in attempt to lead an honest life. It must have been a shock for you to learn that you husband is cross-dressing, but it is probably more common than you think. I suggest that you do some research on cross-dressing on the internet to learn more about it and hopefully to ease your feelings somewhat.

As for drinking to cover your feelings, well join the club. I ran away from my feelings for years and eventually turned to alcohol to hide them from myself when nothing else would work. The sad thing is that the feelings are still there and have to be dealt with.

welcome to SR and yes you can talk about anything in here. If this makes you want to drink or if you do drink over it then this is definately the place to talk about it. I do hope that you seek counceling because his behavior and likes or dislikes are affecting you emotionally, mentally and more so please look into a councelor for yourself. Ity's real hard when you are married to a man for a long time and then find he has these different hidden secrets and he thinks yo7u should be exited for him when infact it hurts you even more. You were so used to maybe a manly man to hear this must have really thrown you for a loop. I hope you stick around here with us. There is alot of support and kind considerate women in here. We all go through things in life and this just happens to be your thing. Don't be ashamed or embarrassed just stick around I am sure you will find some really great women in here as I have.
