Curves

I've recently signed up for Curves as I thought it would be good to keep up my exercise program given my time at the gym takes such a long time, I live further away and it's harder to get there now. I used to work out about 1 1/2 hours 3-4 times a week and was doing well, but with school, work, and life in general time is a huge issue for me.... I know.. Chy stay off the computer and you'd have more time! *LOL*.. but I was wondering if anyone else has had tried it and like the results, it's only been two weeks, but I find 30 minutes is cool and all but not sure if I'm really working out to the level I need to, to overcome this plateau?

Gosh Chy, I think any regular exercise is really good. I'm at the time of the year when my exercise kind of gets put on the shelf. I LOVE hiking/walking and do that every single day...in the good weather. That's the clincher as up here in the great white north, it's starting to turn cold and walk less and less. This year I have promised myself to replace outdoor walking with the treadmill and I aim to keep my promise.

I hope Curves works out well for you.

Love, Anna

Hey Chy, I'm a curves gal, I've been going since March, and it's made a huge difference with me, I've lost weight and inches......well curves didn't take the weight off, me shoving less junk in my face did.

I really like it, getting to know a lot of the woman there. You're suppose to walk or whatever in between.

I hope you enjoy it, but I'm thinking, if you were working out for an hour and a half at a time before, you might find curves to slow. Anyway I like it and the results, work them curves girl.

Anna you keep that promise to yourself, don't use your treadmill to put clothes on, haha.

hey chy!

im planning on joining curves as soon as i can afford it. I met the manager for a curves place (wtv you call it) at a meeting! she its great. and also a girl i work with, she simply LOVES it.. but i dont know, maybe since you have already the capability of working out and disciplining yourself that much, curves wont come as such a break through for you. But since youre busy and all, i might be the next best thing!

ill post in this thread again as soon as i join.. i cant wait.. i must lose this weight!

Hey Chy -

The gym I go to is not a Curves, but it has the same machines as Curves. The owner used to Manage a Curves and went out on her own. Action Fitness, and it is great. the machines are hydrolic, so you really get out of it what you put into it, the harder and faster you go, the more you get out of it. The reason I joined Action instead of Curves which is closer to my house was the personal touch of the owner. The Curves here by my house has just young girls in it that are too busy on the phone about their boyfriends to help/give any assistance, encourage me to move my butt faster...stuff like that. And the owner Tari is also a personal trainer and we have trained together on and off now for the last year.

Do it, it works. I don't know if they told you only to go 3 times a week, but if they did (they told my friend that in ME) but they do that just to keep the membership moving in the gym without being to crowded. You can do it EVERYDAY. And make sure they are changing the routine times every six weeks or so. So that you muscles don't get used to the same thing all the time.

It works if you work it...wait where have I heard that before????

Hi Chy- I joined Curves in April after I was diagnosed with Diabetes. Exercise is a big part of treatment and I really love it!! I am a former couch potato and Curves has made a huge difference in my health. I feel so much better and enjoy the routine. I have used the travel passes when I visit my kids and never would have thought I would exercise while on vacation. Have lost weight and toned up nicely. Can't praise it enough, trying to get my sis and mom to join- take care- stephanie

Thanks ladies, I'll keep going and hopefully I'll break the plateau with it being a different routine. Thanks again! I'll be patient.

Chy,

My mom and sister go to Curves. I was supposed to join, but I found I couldn't even find time to get there to use the FREE trial pass my mom had. They really like it. Around here though we call it the old lady gym.lol That's about the only speed I can go in. But, my mom and sister both really like it, and in my sister, I can see the difference in her weight, and my mom goes to keep her knee in shape (Knee replacement) and it works well for her. Let me know how you make out, maybe I will have to FIND the time. (yeah, right).
