| Sobriety Vase
I thought I'd pass along something I did for myself over the weekend that I just love. (By the way, not my idea, passed along to me from a friend who got it from a friend, etc) I made myself a "Sobriety Vase". I went to the bead store and bought a strand of pretty pale gold "pearls". Not too small, as I want to see them pile up. Then I went out and bought a small, clear vase. Again, not too big as I am going for the visual here. I figure, when I fill it up I can just start another one. I can't wait until the day that I have bead filled vases lined up! I took them home, cut the beads apart from the strand and began dropping them into the vase one at a time for each day of my sobriety, which for me began on Sept. 27. It was such a delicious sound to hear each one fall. I had a relapse on Oct. 12 so didn't put a bead in for that day. (I don't suscribe to AA's rule of having to start over on day one if you relapse, as I learned a great deal about myself from that relapse). Now, each night before I go to bed, I will think about my day...what was good about it, what can I change tomorrow and drop a bead into my sobriety vase. It is a GREAT feeling to look at this vase and see those beads. A visual reminder of how far I've come. Sometimes you have to be your own cheerleader!

Hi Connie, Lots of times we have to be our own cheerleaders! I love your idea - it's great. Anna
