Well, here I am, new at this thing. I had a month of sobriety, and then started up again. I'm so depressed, and hungover. Why the heck can't I get it through my head that I CANT drink??????????? This sucks, but I will post again tomorrow, non-hungover, and will let you all know how it's going. This has GOT TO STOP! |

My dad used to tell me that some people would see someone banging their head against a wall, saw that it hurt them, and they wouldn't try it. Then some bang their head against the wall just once or twice, then when they find out for themselves that it hurts they quit. Then he said some people are like me, they forget how badly it hurt the first time they banged their heads, and keep going back and banging against the same wall. He always said eventually I'd figure out to stop banging my head...lol. Just thought I'd pass that one on, it always stuck with me...especially after I'd hit that wall...lol

Welcome to SR. My first sponsor used to say 'Go ahead, keep banging your head on that wall, and when you see blood and are willing to stop, I'll be right here to help clean you off'

Privet hi and welcome to this site. We are all in it together here. All kinds of great people a you fell that is all. Stand up brush off those knees and get back up. We all try to help each other the best way we know how. Believe it or not relapse is part of recovery(not a requirement). I have learned a great deal from my slips and relapses. They have allowed me to put together three years of recovery. So don't beat yourself up it's over just remember why you did it and try not to do it again. Hope to see you in here more we need all the great people we can get. It strengthens our recovery.

Thanks for all the words of wisdom guys - even though they weren't meant for me. I had a slip yesterday - let the fustration and stress get to me. I wasn't going to say anything but then I thought to myself that unless I can be honest with myself - nothing will change. I'm not proud of what I did...but it's done and I don't want to do it again. I forgot how crappy I felt drinking. So, I'm picking myself back up, getting honest with myself and brushing off my knees....

Thanks Paulie - you've been a huge help. All I can say is that I'm sick of these f-ing Red Sox fans! My husband wants to have a 'beat up a red sox fan day'! haha I'm just sick of all the emails, notes, etc...that I've been getting. I just keep saying that they better be careful. Last time I checked - they hadn't won the World Series yet. AND watch out - hell has no fury like a pissed off George Steinbrenner.... |

I am on day 6 of being clean again so I, too, feel your pain and frustration. Please, HP, let this be the last one. I heard in a meeting the other day that the only good drunk is the LAST one. Makes sense. Again, let this be your (and my) last one. Please get to a meeting and keep reaching out. jojo |
