| So what do I do now, huh?
Hello Ladies I sure am glad to be here. I am hoping to have my home PC working soon - I have really come to rely on this site as a crucial part of my recovery. I hope that everyone is well. I read Lisa's post and am so glad she's physically safe for now, but really worried that she has become so dispassionate about the whole affair. It was moving to see the amount of unconditional love and support that was offered to her. I pray that she gets another chance at life, and that she doesn't stay the next time. Anyway, on to my question. Remember when I posted that I gave up my cat Tucker for peeing and then found out it was Tilley? Well actually it was both, but whatever. Some of you gals roasted me for not being a responsible pet owner and ouch that smarted but I gave it some thought and decided to try to help retrain my cat as necessary. I have been letting her outside periodically and she really seems to enjoy that. The peeing has stopped. HOWEVER. Three days ago my daughter finds a piece of cat pooh on the stairway. Hmm I think maybe it fell off her dear little arse. But the next night, I find another piece, on my ottoman in the basement. Suddenly her arse isn't looking so dear. But last night took the cake when my boyfriend pointed to the carpet and said what's that? Tilley has been .. er. .. skidding, shall we say, on the carpet with a pooh-covered bum! So! Ya still think she has a urinary tract infection? I won't put her down .. I couldn't do that .. I know of a very good adoption agency for pets that have been abandoned .. so I think I will call them and inquire. It's sad, but this is getting gross. Please feel free to offer your own cat experiences or roast me some more I can take it! Bring it on! LOL Much love Rowan |

Have you taken her to the vet? Perhaps it's a simple medical thing like worms or something. She has an itchy butt! It's worth a try.

I'm sorry Rowan, I still do not support your plan. My cat had the exact same problem, messing on the floor or whatever and skidding on the carpet. She did that for a reason and it wasn't to annoy me. She needed a change in diet, what we had been giving her wasn't agreeing with her any longer. My friends cat did the same thing as a reaction to stress. She dealt with it by confining the cat to a specific area and it's natural for a cat to NOT mess in the area in which they 'live'. She gradually increased the space to the whole house and it worked pretty well. I'm sorry, but I feel that you have to do everything possible before you abandon a pet. It's just not something that you can take on when things are fine and then give up when there's a problem. Again, I'm sorry, but absolutely no support from me. Your cat is trying to tell you something and it's not that he wants to be given away or die. Love, Anna

Rowan, I should add that I have a sick 10 month old kitten now. We found out a few weeks ago that she has colitis and she has been bleeding from her butt. It's not pleasant and we don't know what will happen with her yet. She's been on two courses of antibiotics and we're hoping that will control it. It can't be cured. The only thing that would cause me to put her down would be if she was in pain and I was keeping her alive for myself only. I'll put diapers on her if I have to. Love, Anna

Anna, You are without a doubt 100% right. And I feel badly about this; suddenly I am reminded of my beloved cat O.J. when I was a girl. He suddenly disappeared and Mom told us he ran away. It wasn't until years later that we found out she had given him to a friend who owned a farm - the cat was eventually killed by a car or got lost, I can't remember. I was so mad at my Mom, and I didn't support her "How would you like a cat to be peeing in your house?" response. Now here I am, the Mom, and contemplating doing the same thing. I'm taking her to the vet this weekend. That's a promise. Wow. There's perspective for ya. Rowan |

Woo Hoo Rowan, Way to go!! I hope you get some good advice. Yeah, looking at the big picture helps so many situations. I always wanted a pet as a child, desparately wanted a pet and my mother always said it was too much trouble and she couldn't be bothered. That's one of the many things I disliked about my mother, but that's another story! Keep us updated. Love, Anna

Does she have long hair if so I would trim the hair around that area at least stopping the pooh from sticking to the hair. There are some meds that don't cost very m,uch for her urinary track infection Sometime just getting the food helps. Yes they have food for cats with that problem. Its good to hear the cat is in good hands. Is this the same cat you were talking about or is it two different cats. Ok Im lost now after reading your second post.
