Hi all! You know how I said I haven't had a living room set and my living room has been emmpty for six months about. Well I got that vouture to get what I need. I was told they get donations by rotmans and only good stuff s accepted. Oh I was told a washer, dryer, microwave anything I needed. Not I should have known it was to good to be true. So for the forty dollar delivery charge(yes nothing is free) I got a broken down couch (luckily the cushens are cleaned, a side table with a lamp attached which is ok for a yard sale kinda item thing. and a grey recliner that kinda looks like its for a child but a little bigger. Now don't get me wrong I am greatful,I really am. Its just I was so mislead. they told me they would help. they would give me anything I needed, that they only accept the best stuff and get rid of the junk. I was lied to. It was a stinky warehouse with five broken down couches and a few end tables around and beareus. Yes my living room is not bare anymore. I can finally sit and watch t.v. Somewhere other then my computer chair. Ya know what I guess I am not greatful. If I were I would not be complaining. Its just after losing my last appartment because of the pipes freezing and the landlord(a surposed friend) had no money to fix it. Well I lost almost everything to water damage. He didn't even give me my rent that month back. I mean I always had new stuff and now its like I am a waling salvation army who is so broke that if theres a special occassion I end up fallen behind for months to catch up.GRRRRR. I am clean I want stuff. Every where I have been even while using I had all new furniture. Yes I also had a man and second income but I am so used to nice new clean stuff this stuff has thrown me for a loop. I almost wish I just left the room empty. I am sorry all this is a recovery site. I am in here being ungreatful. At a time I should be greatful for being clean and having a place to lay my head at night. Hell I could be doing alot worse. I could be homeless. I almost want to erase everything I wrote up there but I will not. I guess I needed to see I was not truely being as greeatful as I thought. Still sick. I see things everyday I need to work on and heres another.

Bubblze,it's OK to be disapointed by a misleading deal!!! Get some carpet apolstery shampoo that comes in a can. Walmart sells their brand cheep, and clean it up. Get throw covers, pillows to put a little pazzaz in your place. When it was just me and my girl, I had ugly furniture, but I was happy that I did have some. I went to yard sales and picked up odds and ends. I still to this day buy stuff from the thrift store for my house and yard sales too. I love it!!!!

Hey Bubblze, Try some cleans sheets as coverlets and you can have matching furniture. Really, for a couple of sets you can do the couch cushions seperatly, and tuck them in (maybe use safety pins to keep them wrapped tightly. It is VERY fashionable to be "shabby chic" these days! Just check the DIY web page for shabby chic ideas. I ADORE finding unique things at garge sales and flea markets to add charm and decorate. You SHOULD be mad and be able to vent your frustration if you feel you got snookered in the furniture deal. Good for you for venting. It means you feel like you should be treated better!! AND YOU SHOULD HAVE! BUt I suppose you should concentrate on making the best of it for now until you can afford better stuff. Good luck!

Good idea about the sheets! K-mart sells really cheep fitted sheets. Usally a twin size one will cover your couch and it's sort of like the exspencive furniture covers they sell nowdays. $5 I think!!!

Thank you all for the ideas. I am feeling better about it today. I at least don't have to sit in my bedroom to watch t.v. So it gets me out of my room. Plus I awoke this morning and came into my living room thinking at least its not empty. I washed up the cushens and they already look better. So I just need to cover the chair. It doesn't really match. I got a couch thats the most important thing. My living room is no longer empty. I think venting and getting it off my chest left me room to fill it with gratitude. So today I am greatful for a living room that is not bare. I will someday get better furniture but for now this is better then nothing.

(((((((((((((((Bubblze)))))))))))! I go through days too where I am disqusted with my furniture. One day when my kids get bigger and we can offord it, I'd like something real nice as well! I dream sometimes of hitting the lotto (not that I play much) and I go through room to room and decorated it the way I want. It's a nice dream and I always wake up happy. Venting is my middle name sometimes. It's not that I'm not greatful, but I'm no saint!
