Don't know whats wrong

I'm not sure whats wrong. Maybe because I have a severe case of pms, or maybe because I am slowly getting off one of my meds...but I really could go for a drink right now. Actually, thats a lie. I could really go for a "all you could eat buffet of benzos".

I am just feeling sorry for myself and my husband is not home and I am never home alone like this right after work. This used to be my time to unwind with a nice bottle of wine. Maybe I should just go to bed. I hate being like this. Thought writing it down would help. I will get out of my funk.

Hi Mag,

The funks come along and we're not always sure why, but I think they always go away again. Now, I know they always go away again. But, being home alone and being tempted by wine is not fun. Have you tried to change routines so that you plan something else during the times you usually would have been drinking? I had to do that, nothing else worked. You can try resting, listening to good music, going for a walk, anything that works for you.

I guess the good news is that I do know the funk will leave....I think the fact of my being alone is just giving me an excuse to be a baby about everything. When my husband is home, which is almost always..I at least put up a good front and everything seems to be better from there. I am a firm believer in the whole fake it til you make it routine. Although, sometimes, I think I am ALWAYS faking it, and thats no fun either.

Hope you are feeling better today maddog. So they say this to shall pass. It will but sure does cause major trouble before it passes. The thing you need to look at is instead of going to the bottle of wine you came in here. Thats growth. Hoge growth...

Wow I could have written your post - from the benzos to the wine to the loneliness - to acting 'as if' to the PMS! I think it's normal that these feelings assail us from time to time; like Bubblze said, you recognized this and came online for some support. Huge growth! Do you attend AA? Just wondering - when I feel like that I go to a meeting or call my sponsor or someone else in the program - or if nothing/no one is available I just get the he** out of the house.

Today is a much better day.
I do not attend AA regularly and kick myself all the time about it. Its a matter of laziness, really. And its something I need to work on. I go here and there and always like it when I get there, but never want to go initially.
