My doctor's office called today. They said he found something on the MRI and he needs to see me in the office ASAP. She said the first she could give me is Friday. I told her she doesn't know, but I will tell ya, this will make me crazy between now and then can he please get on the phone and tell me what he found and I will still come in on friday. She said "no, we can't give that kind of information over the phone" B**ch. So, I am a little crazy right now and I will probably go up and down with it over the next few days. Laurie

na, I work in a medical office. Call and ask to leave a message for the doc to call you. Be firm, not rude....do not take no for an answer. I used to be intimidated by my doctors office and now I am intimidated by the patients! There is all this HIPPA stuff now...patient privacy. You can prove who you are if that is what they want. SS#, Ins ID etc. JT

Hi Namommy, I agree totally with JT. There is no reason why you should be made to stress out between now and Friday. That's just not right. I am saying extra prayers for you and I hope that you are able to get some info from your dr tomorrow. If you have to wait till Friday, then keep on posting. I understand how difficult the waiting game is. Love, Anna |

As they say... "the squeaky wheel gets the oil." I agree with JT too 100%, this is your peace of mind, your body, your health. No one should make you wait for information that's critical. Be firm, diplomatic and persistant. I will keep you in my prayers. Love, Iceberg |

Namommy, so sorry to hear the news. I can't stand when they do that either. Its like why don't they just say come in for a followup. They shouldn't worry you with "we found something."Geez. Thats the way life goes I guess. Maybe a test of your strength. You just stay strong and positive. You have made it in life this far, battled many storms, and can beat anything they through at you. You just stay positive ,post, and get to meetings (if you do meetings) just stay around positive people. Don't let this bring you down. You have a right to be angry as well. So make sure you give her a good look when you go in. She could have just said follow up. Damned lady!!!!GRRRRR!!! My prayers are with you. You just hang in there. If you ever feel like venting e-mail me with all the guff.LOL. I'll take it and get rid of it for you. P.S. If it gets to much to bear I would go to his office and wait til he has free time. It may be a long day but if they see your persistance they will fit you in.

No offence JT,but when a doctor's office is rude to me, it's very hard for me not to be rude back. See I'm a consumor, I'm buying a sevice, therefor the doctor's office works for me. I htink doctors and staff forget that at times.

I can empathize with the waiting for results. Once when a doctor's office did a similar thing to me, first, I asked them to put me on a cancellation list (they call you for a last minute appt when a cancellation opens up an slot) and then, without really waiting for a cancellation, I went to their office, explained that I was very uneasy about my result, and if they didn't mind, I would wait here with a book just on the chance of a opening. I had to wait about 90 minutes, but I eventually got in and got my results (which were worthy of getting tended to but nothing disastrous, thank goodness), and probably most importantly, let the doctor know what had transpired (he didn't like the way the office handled it). Most doctors work a little downtime into their schedules for this last minute stuff, anyway. Do what you need to do-it's your right as a consumer, and your obligation to yourself! Good luck.

:ugh2: Namommy, Wow, how cruel can they be! I am a former nurse and I know the anguish those kinds of calls can put you through. I agree with Eddie, just show up at the office when they open and ay you will expect to see the doctor when he/she is between patients. The practice I work in now, ( not as a nurse, but as someone who sees 30-40 patients a day, per doctor) has a policy. If the patient wants to talk to the doctor, they can. They may need to wait, but the doctor will talk to them at lunch or at the end of seeing patients. If for some reason that doesn't work, ask to speak to the office manager. That ususally gets very quick results.!! I am praying for you. Keep us posted.

Thank you all for the support. I love my doctor, but I hate his staff. I have had to deal with these women in the past and it does no good. I also work in a doctor's office. The problem here is I don't think they give him the messages that I want a return call from HIM. So my plan is to hang in and wait until friday, when I see him let him know how I felt about all of this and he should teach his office staff about compassion. JUST FOR TODAY, I am feeling much better with it. I have been talking and praying about it alot. And, tonite the meeting was on the 3rd step and the speaker talked about practicing the 3rd step while waiting for a triple by-pass. Just what I needed to hear. I really need to let you know, Other than my sponsor and 1 of my sponsees, you ladies and some others on the NA forum are the only ones who got back to me with any type of support, even though I shared last night and tonite at meetings. When I saw all the replies here, I felt like I was going to cry. (I really have a hard time with crying). Thank you and I love you all. Laurie D

Doing well this morning. I am off from work today, so I decided to sleep in and just take my morning slow. I just cleared out my e-mail, and I am sitting here with a cup of coffee and a pack of smokes and if I feel like unpacking anything I will, if not, oh well. I had one of those awarenesses last night that suck. I just got done talking to a sponsee about how she never sits down and takes a break, and I asked her "What are you running from?" well, when I went to bed last night that kept ringing in my mind. I need to ask myself that question as well. I am always on the go from 4:30 in the morning until midnight almost every night and I seldom take a break and if I do it's not for long. So today is a slow down day. I also need to apologize for not responding to too many posts lately, I am just as concerned about all of you, I just haven't been able to focus and really read them lately I find my mind wandering when I try. I'll get back on track soon.
