| An odd trophy
A funny thing happend yesterday.... I was coming home from a meeting and I stopped home to get my husband but, I had to run to the bathroom before heading back out. In the bathroom I noticed I had left a glass on the counter. Before panic set in I realized it was my ice coffee from earlier that day and NOT a gin and tonic... see...I have always been VERY careful about covering any traces of my drinking. I feel like the glass is a trophy of sorts so I left it on the counter, just for today. I'll get it later and wash it before the ants have a field day. I have been sober for 41 days now (yea!) and it feels so good to have little revelations here and there. I feel at times like this that I am no longer living in a prison of my own making. Just thought I'd share - XOX Iceberg

Congratulations on 41 days Iceberg! I know exactly what you mean. Our lives become so complicated with trying to cover up our tracks don't they? I wasted so much energy on such stupid thoughts I can't believe it and it truly was a prison. No question about that. It's like the lyrics from Hold On by Wilson Phillips which Chynna Phillips wrote about her addiction to alcohol: "I know that there is pain But you hold on for one more day and Break free the chains" Love, Anna |

Wow 41 days already seems like just yesterday.See how quick the sober days add up. You deserve that trophy to remind yourself it is but coffee, not an ugly reminder of booze but a reminder of recovery in progress.
