Every year at this time I vow to eat right and exersize. However every year at this time I try and fail. I get motivated eat right and then boom I give up. I wish my weight loss worked like my recovery. I find latley my recovery to be easier then losing weight. I am overweight have been for three years yup right around the time I got clean. I also hurt my back and was on high doses of steroids which did not help. The not being as mobile dosen't help. I am no way as energetic as I was before I hurt my back. So the losing weight would take longer then most because of the back problem. I just wish I new a way to motivate myself and stay motivated. The begining is easy its continuing the work that I don't do. Any suggestions?

howdy not sure what to suggest really, but i know i got a fright when i got on the scales at the drs today eeekkkk haha, i thought i had put on a bit - but !! for me it will be back to drinking lots of water, eating lots of fruit and staying away from munchy food. i to have a bad back and find exercise difficult and boring. about the only thing i like doing is swimming (walking is for puppy dogs etc haha) however it is hard to get to the pool with kids to feed before school etc or after work. plus it is getting colder here, poor excuse i know haha why do you think may is a trigger or difficult month for you? cheers kath

oh of course, being upside down i forget that haha, it is coming for winter here and we are starting to get into warming (fatty) foods, so one has to be really careful haha

Silly me sometimes I forget that I can talk to people all over the world. Stay warm and please stay away from the sweets they are a killer.LOL.Thanks for being there. Where do you live near. Not familiar with your location?

Hey bubblze - Hop on over to the ED forum, we have alot of suppport over there with this kind of stuff, we are all doing it together, just like recovery. I have learned it is best when I set small goals for myself, takes alot of the pressure off. I have been doing my new 'lifestyle' change for a year now, more than half way to my goal and it gets harder the more I lose, but the suppport here has really helped me alot.

Hi Bubblez, I hate doing exersize unless there is fun involved like roller skating,mall walking,swimming with the kids. I know I'll never be a size 4 again,so I put that unrealistic idea right out of my head. I also don't wiegh myself when I try to diet. I go by clothes and how they look on me like if my old clothes get baggy, i know I'm doing good. I'll never look "good" in a bathing suit again... that's for teens,twenty year olds and movie stars. I just want to look presentable just like 40 year old mothers should look like with the bumps,rolls and little spider vains in my legs with underwire in the front department. As we get older our wieght goes up if it stays the same,we look thinner if that makes sence. Besides the little wieght we do put on fills out the wrinkles |

bubblz.... Even though I actually really like excersicing at the gym...because, and I admit it, I get high from the endorphins and I love the feeling, so even tho' I love going to the gym...I still fell off the wagon for over a year now, just started back. With me it is that I don't go alone, It works alot better for me to be on the buddy system. A gym buddy is a wonderful incentive!!!
