Why is it the moment I decide I have a problem with drinking its all around? My friend invited me to a movie this weekend and I said im not drinking this time because last time we watched a movie together we drank before hand and I peed about 5 times during the movie. Umm I dont like missing the movie just because of alcohol. Kinda stupid. What do you tell your friends?

I just say I'm not drinking and ask for a diet coke. I keep it light. I only confide in people that won't minimize or jeopardize my sobriety.

I just say 'No, thanks' and let it go at that. Remember that you don't owe anyone an explanation as to why you're drinking alcohol or not. I know it's hard to make these changes but it's often necessary.

I just say that my hangovers are bad and I prefer not to drink at all and don't go into anymore detail
