late period - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Hi all,
I have been off alcohol for a month now and my period came today but it was about a week late. Im wondering if anyone has had a similar experience wheather it is related to liver disease (i have abnormal liver at the moment) or if it has something to do with quitting drinking? I thought I was pregnant :/
Any info would be great so that i could be more aware of whats going on with my body

Hi Wino

I am on day 19 so not yet a month. but my period was much much lighter than normal and not as painful as usual . had a terrible headache though which is unusual for me(if not drink related!) I think it's just our bodies going through so many changes and adjusting-suppose it is a big shock to the system to be so used to alcohol and then it just stops so may show itself in various ways.

I don't know Wino5, it could be anything, including stress of stopping drinking. The main thing is that you have had a sober month! Good for you! Maybe you should check with your dr.

I have had terrible headaches too! I suppose it is just our bodies adjusting to change

Thanks Anna, I have appointment Wednesday to find out results of liver tests.

((wino)) - My DOC was crack, but when I started recovery, I remember my periods being really irregular or missing. I do believe our bodies take time to adjust to not having our DOC, but am glad you're seeing your doctor.
