I just took an online self test. My perimenopausal symptoms ranked as "very severe"... but they were selling something to make us feel better. Maybe they rank everyone very severe so they'll buy it. Anyway, I got mad. I suppose that was perimenopausal. For those who don't know the saga of my life... Dino was staying here for what was supposed to be a couple of weeks... it turned into a couple of months with no end in sight... his boorishness got the best of me... I screamed "leave" and he left. Now I've taken this test and I'm thinking my reactions could be put down to hormones. That makes me mad. I suppose that's hormonal. I felt pretty unrecovered for screaming. I thought of it as a codie relapse thing. However, I also thought that it was fairly progressive of me to put a stop to the offensive way he was behaving... however I had to do it. Boundary crossed... solution found. Now I'm wondering if my spine grew from lack of estrogen. Damn. And if that's true... I ask you... is estrogen some kind of brain numbing thing? Does it cloud our minds through our entire fruitful years into mollycoddling primitive oafs??? Could I have had a backbone years ago with estrogen suppression??? Where is the research on this, huh? Because it seems to me that midlife is a time when women are simply fed up to the point where they're not gonna take it any more. Maybe this hormone thing is simply a rug being pulled out from under us in the coping department. But the things I've lost my temper over were things that no man I know would have put up with for five minutes. Anger seems like a natural response to someone treating you like a chump. But I'm 44, so it's possible to point at my righteous anger and say "hormones". And that makes me mad. Do you suppose it's hormones?

LOL, I too get confused if it's my hormones talking or not! I'm going to see my shrink today and see if there is any testing that can be done to see how high my hormones go when I'm PMSing and what can be done about it. I just do not think that antidepressents work well with surging hormones. There has got to be someother kind of medication!!! Good for you sticking up for yourself weather it was hormon indused or not! LOL!!! I would not buy anything on the web either for my hormones. Who knows what stuff they put in things!

Smoke. I do everything I can to eliminate any outward forces that might be at work. I hate to react because of PMS and then have to apologize...I don't think PMS is avoidable tho. Menopausal mood swings can be treated with the urine of a pregnant mare. LOL! If it would help me I would bath in it...fortunately I don't have to. A money grubbing drug company formulated the urine into an oval pill. Depression and anger are things that can cause me to erupt and send anyone near me to the nearest exit. I am convinced that the life I have lived has stripped me of all the seretonin that my brain can manufacture. Really.....it has to be true. I used it all up! Another money grubbing drug company came up with a potion that helps me to produce the seretonin that I need to keep me from eating my young. I like to know it is ME when I am screaming!! Hugs, JT

Smoke - I often ask myself the same thing. But since my gyno sat and listened to me a few months ago and verified that the symptoms that I have are REAL and I am not losing my mind even tho I am only 39, I feel better. (also probalby due to a wonderful natural pill I have been taking since then that has all kinds of stuff in it for peri symptoms). anyway, I have to stop and ask myself before I freak what is going on. I have other things happening in my body right now that are making my hormones screw...but even I think sometimes there can be TMI given so I won't go there right now. But I am aware of this and can usually, I said usually keep it under control. As for you and the Dino situaiton....sometimes a button can just be pushed so far. JT - bathe in it LOL!!!!

Hey All- It's premarin (PREgnant MARe urINe). It's a steroidal (natural) estrogen. Also, you can get it from soy and yam plants. It's an estrogen replacement when you are suffering from deficiency, like during menopause. Keeps your bones from breaking down and so on. Sorry, gotta put the knowledge I spent thousands on to good use!! (In college for my ADN) Boy, do I have a lot to look forward to! I'm only 21, so I got awhile before I have to deal with the crazy ups and downs of hormones, heh! As far as estrogen clouding minds...I thought that was only testosterone! Take Care All! |

| Smoke I am sorry to laugh till I pee...because I know just what you mean..I am 42. You are just so very colorful in your descriptions!! I do think that it is sad the we know so little about something so important..and on the other hand...the medical profession can tell you anything at all that you may want to know about a penis. Go figure!!

Hey Sky... are you sure it's the laughter that's making you pee and not a bladder control issue? SEE! We can't even be sure of little things like THAT any more. :saywhat?:

I think this is actually a really interesting theory... I know so many women who've rearranged their lives, stopped putting up with BS, found their passions, in their 40's... In an evolutionary way, it would make sense - we have to put up with BS from people and supressour passions/feelings/wants in our childbearing years so we'd continue to reproduce and raise our young. If we were too into basket weaving or whatever we wouldn't have the time for kids. If we wouldn't put up with BS from our men we'd stop being intimate, stop having babies. I actually think you've got something here smoke. Now, if only I could find I way to make it all happen now - I'm 24 so I've got a ways to go! |

you guys are too funny< PMS, my husband swears that he's going to start moving out of the house 2x per month, my 11 years old daughter is starting to get the mood swings and the irritable even though she hasn't gotten her period yet, WE all know that it's comeing, and she seems to get into her moods just as i stop PMSing. Alsoi spoke to my gyn, because i was having all these tererible moods right before, and now i started to get it 2x per month, so she said that i am deffinately starting menopause. My God even saying that makes me feel old. Can you imagine, Hopefully i will be stopping soon and then it starts all over with my daughter.,. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Bernadette |

Chy, it's on a site called womentowomen . How's that for not posting a commericial link???? They exist to sell you stuff, but there's a lot of good info on there, too. Wako... you hit the back button, didn't you? Tell your husband he only has to deal with the girl nonsense twice a month, but you have to deal with his ALL the time. (nanner nanner nanner)

Now who would of thought that horse **** could make you feel better! You know, it's funny how these poor animals or maybe lucky animals don't get injected with any human by products. I did talk about my PMS to my shrink and got some prozac. We will see if I feel better in a couple of weeks. I might go to the health food store too and look up this um natural way to help my hormones. Thanks for starting this post, I have learned a lot!
