I have a stupid question.

How do you blog?

I mean, how do you get a blog started? where do you get one started? what do you blog about? (i kind of have an idea about this one), Do you have to start your own site, or do other websites have places you can blog, and how do you start one there if they do?

Any information anyone can give me on blogging, I would appreciate. Please be specific and detailed. I am a computer DORK!!!

Thanks

Laurie

There's a blog option here, Laurie - if you're looking to communicate primarily with the community here. If you are looking for a larger audience, there are a number of different places. Since 2006, I've used blogspot.com.

I just checked in before hitting the sack and I'm pretty brain-tired. If someone doesn't add specific directions for getting started, I'll post more tomorrow.

Peace & Love,
Sugah

top of the forums here have an option "blogs". Drag down menu offers "blog directory" then over on the left there is a "post to your blog" option. Myspace also has a blog option, and if you do a search on google, you can find lots of hosts. Who would you like to read your blog? Most blog sites have the option of either making your blog a diary only (only you can read), set it for friends only (people in your contact list can read only) or public (everyone can read)

I have a few blogs on this site, I believe they are set to public view. I have more on myspace, but I keep those set to "friends only".

I have a My Space blog. My space - Windows Live I started it when I first got sober and it was a tremendous help to me. I just went to MSN.com (I think) and followed the links to create a blog, I am not terribly computer savvy. I wrote about things I was going through at the current time and in the past; I wrote about my dog dying and then adopting new dogs; I posted pictures of some of the people/creatures I wrote about. I don't know that anyone else ever read my blog, I didn't care, for me it was just a way to leave my 'mark'. I haven't written on it in probably a year because my life has calmed down but if stress again burdens me I will write more.

Hey, great topic! So, why do people blog, anyway? Is it like journaling? I would think you wouldn't be quite as honest in an on-line blog as you would in a private journal.....

Just curious....Thanks!

I started a blog yesterday, but when I go into the blog directory, I couldn't find it.

When I pull up my blog, I can't tell if anyone responded to it or not. I'm not sure I did it right.

OK, I found my blog and added to it.

I have another question. What is the proper etiquette for blogging. Do people want you to comment to their blogs, do they just want to vent, are they basically like a thread that you just keep adding to and people can comment if and when they want to.

I've read through some blogs, to get an idea of how it works, and there was one that I just felt compelled to comment about and I commented. So I think I have an idea, I just want to make sure I am doing this right.
