hello all...my husband and i just got back from 6 days in Hawaii, an award trip from his employeer, about 150 other couples were there, it was great, lots of parties....lot of liquor...everyong drinks so much at these things!!! i am a recovering addict, most of my trouble is with narcotics, but alcohol certainly played a part in my life...i fell off the wagon on this trip and drank half a glass of wine...it was done, as most wagon crashes are, huh?, in secret, or rather where no one saw me. my husband, and i do love him, but he isn't the most attentive person in the world and it never would have occured to him to "watch" me. i guess he trusts me....maybe his mistake. i've been struggling over the last couple of months with staying clean....i feel like such a dismal failure. i hadn't had anything to use since Jan. 29, 2003. anyway, just wanted to come back and say hello..... joy-baby back to square one... |

Hi Joy-baby, Welcome back. Relapse happens to the best of you. You probably know as well as I do that you would have taken the drink regardless of anything your husband was or was not doing. It's sort of the nature of the disease. We're glad you're here and glad you're sober.

Let`s get a grip here... You are not a failure Joy..you simply had a mis-step in sobriety. Talk to your sponsor...share in meetings...you are not alone. Starting over is an option...Geez! I did it for liternally years!!

Joy - You slipped, you get back up and start again. Just like if you were walking down the street and tripped, you stand up and start again. It is okay. The only way there is no chance to start again is if you were not alive. You are so they you go. Carol is right, hit a meeting today and talk about it! we are here, let go of the guilt - it will stop you from staying sober! (((joy))) huge hugs to you!
