Hi Ericsgirl, As i have gotten older the pms have gotten really wrist slashingly bad. It is good that you recognise that it is pms as that always is helpful i find. Once i recognise it i can keep telling myself that it will pass, that it is my hormones and i am ok really. Exercise helps although i have to really push myself to do it when i have pms, warm baths with candles and oils, doing the chores with happy music blasting. All these things help me through the blackness. Last 6 months i have been supplimenting and that has helped no-end. The pms is much less severe and shorter with supps. So if you are struggling every month then that may be something to consider if you are not already doing it. I use high dose fish oil, evening primrose, vitamin b complex and soya isolflavines. Hope you get some respite soon as it really can be a black place to be i know. Hugs Ev

I had my vitamin D checked too because we get less vit. D during the winter months..mine was really low and so I added Vit D along with B6 (I take a sublingual B12 already becuase I don't absorb it from my food) and it has helped so much. Some of my friends have added Magnesium too to help them sleep during this time because they found that insomnia hit too. As always, make sure you speak to your pharmacist because some supplements can interact with your daily meds. When I still had all the girl parts I also pre-medicated for pain a few days ahead of time with Aleve (Naproxen) because I found that pain increased my risk of depression which in turn makes the pain worse.

My first sober bouts with PMS were a-w-f-u-l. I thought I was going crazy until I realized that it was the first time in a very long time that I was finally experiencing PMS without the 'blanket' of alcohol to cover it up. I believe it will get better over time. Also, avoid caffiene as much as possible during your period- makes them way worse, I can tell you! |

I know they say not to, but if I'm having cravings......CHOCOLATE!!!!!!! Being extra nice to yourself. Don't push yourself. I noticed after I got sober that "the time of the month" really seemed to accent things for me. |
