| So I made it here
Hello all, I'm an addict trying to get my act together, before I have to go back to work 10/13. I go to NA almost daily and a job specific support group once a week, so far I'm not doing too well. I could use the support. I have a family that thinks they are helping, but they are really clueless about my situation.

Hi and welcome, I understand about the clueless family, I have one of those to. And I vividly remember early recovery with them. I am an NA thumper LOL. Have you gotten a sponsor yet? Getting a sponsor and working the steps is the key in my opinion. Meetings the fellowship part of it, listening and learning from other addicts, I need that part to, but the program of working the steps with another addict is what saved my life. Keep talking, we are here.

Hi Suzy. I'm new too. The feeling sort of lonely and isolated was the first thing that hit me after some sober time. Family/friends love you, but don't know what to say, they don't understand. Plus they might be dealing with their own hurt at the same time. Keep reaching out, that's all I can say. The beginning is the worst of it, I hear. Just keep going and think of everything as a stepping stone to something better. Sometimes all you can do is make it through the day. :atv Incidentally, have you had the opportunity to resume doing things you really enjoy? Even small things? That makes a world of difference for me. |

I've only been here a short while and the support here has been kick @ss!!!!! :P Keep coming back and don't be afraid to share what's on your mind. More than, and probably A LOT MORE, often you'll find the people here really relate to a lot of what you're going through. Good luck in your new life. |

Nice to see you- everyone here can offer much support and advice. I've been going to NA and AA too. CCRN- Critical care RN? I'm an RN in Washington. I think I know exactly what you're talking about the job-support group. I hope you're doing well. If you have any questions about the program, let me know. I'd love to have someone to talk with about it.

Welcome. This is a nice little oasis. I don't share my recovery openly with my family--mom, dad, brothers--because it's just too stressful. It's nice to have people elsewhere, even if it's on an online forum, who get it though. I'm grateful for this place. ![]() dig
