| The hardest thing of all - character assets
Charater Assets. It is one of the hardest things I have struggled with in recovery. I'm either (in my mind) better than everyone else or less than. Recovery for me is about living in reality which means I have both defects and assets. And sometimes my defects are just my assets gone astray. I thought it would be nice to start a thread where we can list good things/things we like about ourselves. A few things I like about myself are: - my sense of humour - my willingness to give anything a go (usually) - my hair cut. I've had my hair cut a certain way for about a year. My cousin is a hairdresser and orginally did it and now 'looks after it.' I still think it is my best hair cut in the world ever! How about you? What do you like about yourself?

Fun thread Liz and a good way to get to know each other: Here are the ones I'm proud of: I have an adventuresome food palate I'm an excellent cook And have a positive outlook on life (most the time)

My glass is always full...(no alcohol)! I have what I consider a great sense of humor, along with a contagiuos laugh. I like people. Feedback from those who count tell me I'm an awesome mom! I've got alot of love to give. I'm open to learning and growth. I'm a good cook. I work hard and sleep peacefully (only lately). |

Thanks for starting this thread. I have been so wrapped up in my defects lately and been in an endless funk. Hmmm... I am actually having to think really hard to come up with something. Probably too hard.  * I am a giver and enjoy helping others * I lost 20 lbs when I quit drinking and like my body again * I love animals * ..... Wow... I hope I think of some more soon~!  |

Good thread, boosting the self-esteem where it should be to begin with  Things I like about myself? Fab sense of humour, very dry and sadistic, clever. Honest, raw writer & like that I'm well-read. When done up I look rather good ha. I like that I love to make people laugh & take care of them. |

Thanks so far! I have to say when I typed in my ones, I felt the desire to then say things like BUT blah,blah,blah which is rather self defeating. Everything before the BUT is BS. Here's some more from me: - I like my glasses (had them for 2 years now, still love them) - I like the colour of my eyes - I like how I can laugh with my daughter (13) and relate to her. Sometimes when we are out places and see really dorky guys I'll point them out and tell her it's her future husband....

Thanks for this thread. I've been writing on resentments so it's nice to think of something more positive tonight. I like my intelligence. I like my face. I like that I'm still real excited to learn new things in my 40's I like that I'm an artist. I like that I'm a good Mom. KJ |
