| Looking For Myself...Sober | Rosacea
I dont know if you guys read in the dry skin thread where I said my forhead was red and dry. I found out I have rosacea. I was prescribed a cream. Seems to be doing ok. Do any of you know anything about it? Like what causes it...Does it go away? I looked it up and just found a bunch of mumbo jumbo I care not to try and figure out.

I got it. Was diagnosed with it a few years ago after my face kept swelling up and itching etc... I was put on a antibotic for like 3 months which seemed to fix it but my skin is awful and my pores are huge! I have been told I could get surgery that is very painful but there is no 'miracle' cure for it. What cream you using?

Metronidazole..never heard of it. I have to apply twice a day. The scaling has gone away in just a few days. It doesnt hurt as much anymore. It kust itched alot and was scaley..like dandruff on my face. Its gross. I was scrubbin my face almost raw with a loofa. But it made it redder. DUH..But it got rid of the dry flakes. But they come back everytime I shower. I get these like tiny pimple..bug bite type things that hurt on my forehead. Hopefully this cream works.

I used to have those tiny broken vien things on my face, it runs in famlies or with people withfair skin. My handicapped son was so disturbed by them I had to have years of (free) laser tratment to remove them. I came out loking like a boxer every month lol, it worked though although I have to use total sunblock and keep my face covered when it's windy or cold, fortunately our winters are mild. I don't know if it works for Rosacea or not.

I have MS and because my body is so run down (and I can assure you it is not from lack of resting) and I seem to have developed the same kind of thing round my mouth and nose - flaky skin. I have it all over the rest of my body too, to varying degrees. I got some cream that I've been using with little results for about 5 days. I think I will be back to the doctors. It is pretty gross have flaky skin on your face. :atv

I know that Bill Clinton has rosacea. It is something you have to work around, doesn't go away on it's own, although if you keep stress under control, your face doesn't get as red, so it isn't as noticeable. It has been said that Lady Di had a moderate case of it, also. If she did, she covered it with makeup. I guess it's good you don't drink or use cocaine or oxys, because thoes can really make the nose a lot redder. My nose was red as a clown's when I used oxy. I used to not be able to stop rubbing it. Sounds to me like a great reason to buy really nice new makeup for yourself. Love from: KJ |

I can't use foundation (make up) any more as it agravates my skin. Dunno why. I think I am not only sensitive to life but also to most commerical products that people put on their skin. About the time I was diagnosed with R I got some allergy tests done at a lab and I reacted to everything they put on my skin. I felt/looked so sick they forced me to sit and wait while one of them went and brought antihesdeams (spelt wrong). It was all rather dramatic. As a kid, my nose was red all year round like I was always sunburnt or something. And kids are cruel. They named me after one of santas mates....fill in the blank had a very shiny nose and if you ever saw it you would have to say it glows

Awww, Rudy is kind of a cute nickname, but I kids are so cruel that it would probably seem something negative at that time. I was teased something awful as a child too. I've noticed that addicts/alkies seem to have that in common. Maybe the cruelty to us as kids started the feelings of self-loathing that helped us want to use substances to dull the pain of being who we are/were/were told we were. KJ |

Hi chi. I was given 2 creams - Elidel (which worked really well for me) and Finacea. Also - I take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil everyday, and a variety of other vitamins. My skin has DRASTICALLY improved. If you want to know which vitamins I take (recommended by my dermatologist) let me know. |

Ok that cream is seriously making my face worse. My skin is flaking twice as bad now. I am not happy. Everytime I touched my face at work a bunch of flakes feloff onto my desk like really bad dandruff. It was nasty. I switched Drs because my regular Dr was treating based on my addiction alone. But this new one just seems like she doesnt know WTF she is doing. I am going back to my old Dr. Sure xana..Pm me if you will. Thx
