Go back to AA? Please help

Hi Beach Angel . . . If you want to try AA again, please don't be embarrassed to go back. In the past 7 years, I've been to hundreds of AA meetings and whenever anyone returns, I have found they are welcomed with open arms and no one will judge you. We all know how this disease ruins lives so we're always grateful when another alcoholic joins us.

When I joined AA, I didn't believe in a Higher Power and wanted no parts of one. So I nearly gave up on AA before I ever went to my first meeting. I found a message board so I could ask how AA would help someone who didn't believe in God. A very wise man with 37 years of sobriety told me "Don't let your lack of a belief in a Higher Power stand in the way of being sober." That was the greatest advice anyone has ever given me because I'm sober today.

So . . . . Don't let your embarrassment about drinking stand in the way of your sobriety. If you think AA is a program that will help you to stay sober, then go. You deserve a sober life.

I am embarrased to go back to AA with my tail between my legs but I am thinking they probably already know why I left. I don't WANT AA or this problem. I don't want to be percieved as a first time loser at the AA meetings, they will probably remember me from before.

I just recently returned to AA. I have "returned" 3 times this past year. I was a bit embarrassed going back, just like you said, but I belong there as much as anyone else. I have a desire to stop drinking. Someone asked me today, "So what brought you back?" I didn't know how to answer at the time, but obviously something keeps saving me a seat!
