Newbie Hi all, I am new to this site, new to forums in general, and new to sobriety. Today is day 2 for me, and I have been reading all the posts I can get my hands on. It is not easy for me to admit that I have a problem, and even more difficult to ask for support. I see that most of you have been posting for a while, so I hope you don't mind a newbie popping her head in. Your words to each other have given me the strength to get through the past 36 hours. Thank you!

I have not talked to my doctor. Is that something you recommend? I was seeing a therapist last spring (06) and she was very concerned with the amount. And it has gotten much worse. I have two young boys that I absolutely adore, and I want them to have a stable, healthy mom. Funny that I had no problem not drinking while pregnant, but once they came, I started back both times. It has been 9 years since my first (and last) AA meeting. It's time. I am surprised at how hard day 2 is, since I am not used to going more than 24 hours. Thank you for begin there.

Great to see you Glad you could join us. It it will be great seeing you round. I think medical advice should be sought if you start to expereince the DT's or you think you might experince them.

Detoxing from alcohol can be very dangerous, which is why it is always a good idea to talk to your dr. Take care of yourself and let us know how you're doing.

Welcome aboard, CSCS! You're in the right place~ Sometimes I still mourn the loss of my old friend, vodka, but Lord, the new friends I have found....among them self respect, energy, a will to live.... Alcohol pales in comparison. I hope you find that to be true soon!

Welcome and stay strong. SR is like a 24/hour hotline for help and encouragement. I think that it's gotten alot of people through the tough times, especially at odd times when you just can't pick up the phone and call just anybody. Keep up the good work. Get this day behind you and we'll deal with tomorrow - tomorrow. One day at a time remember!!! {{{{Hugs}}}}} Janet
