| New here but not to recovery
Hi all, I didn't really know where to post my introductory post, so I figured this would be as good a place as any. I've been in recovery for over 10 years now. Life is still an up and down ride but fortunately much more doable than it used to be. I went to AA for the first 5 years on an obsessive basis. Then it just stopped working for me. Now I stay on the spiritual path and try to do the best that I can. Anyway, was thrilled to see this forum and to join. Thanks for being here. Loraleigh Vance |

I left AA for the same reasons! Perhaps a few others too! I am glad that you are here. There is an alternative thread here but it is appallingly quiet... Please help me get it going! Have a great day and WELCOME! T |

Well, thanks all. I've been looking for a place of like minded people. Looks like I found it. So nice to have such a warm welcome! My story isn't that much different than anyone elses. Started drinking when I was 15 years old and loved it from the get go. Fast forward 20 years later and I was desparately trying to quit... again. Found AA and really committed to the program. Through a series of miracles I am still sober today. That's about it in a nutshell. Today I read a lot a spiritual material and write about it a lot. One place I do this is on my blog. Other than that, I try to be of service in whatever capacity I can. Thanks again for such a warm welcome. What's the alternative thread? |

I think it is about 3 down scrolling from this one. It is alternative methods of sobriety. There are quite a few ideas and attitudes here that make it a good place to be. The one size fits all is not the way to go. So this place caters to a bit of everything. I like that! How are you working on your spirituality if I may ask? I do yoga, meditate a LOT and read lots of different things. I try to expand my knowledge with the understanding that truth is relative and my truth need not be yours. I like to learn about what others feel is true to them. Have a great day and again...WELCOME! T |

Hi and thank you for the warm welcom. How do I work on spirituality? I let it come to me. Life happens, decisions have to be made, people get in my face, attitudes come up... I have studied spirituality for years and then went to AA like crazy for 5 solid years. I just try to be as aware as possible and act according to my beliefs. Just keeping it simple! Thanks again. |

Hi Loraleigh, Welcome! I seem to have missed this thread, but I want to welcome you to the women's forum. I'm on a spiritual journey too and it's an interesting journey, to say the least. I hope you keep posting.

My day is great thanks Loraleigh, I started my spiritual path many years ago and still I learn something new each day.
