New here....

Hi Everyone,

I have posted a few times on another board about some opiate usage I was/am having, but I thought I'd stop by here and say hello and to ask a question...

Basically I take 2 or 3 5mg of percocet a day. I have stopped before and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Now I am down to my last pill and I am done. It will be hard becasue there are opiates in my house becasue my husband takes them for what else, his very bad back and he is starting to notice some missing..and it's me taking them. Bad I know.

Anyhow, did any of you women notice that your period was slow or stopped when taking any opiates? I have noticed this the past month, but 2 months ago I didn't have any problems getting it. My other thought was I am going through "the change". I also took an at home pregnency test and it came up neg. So could it be opiates stopping it?

Hi Rose
Thank You for introducing yourself. I am very pleased to meet you.

Yes , opiates can slow down the menstral cycle. And many women in recovery have expereinced the change early. any time we make major changes in our lives such as stopping drugs or alcohol our bodies do go through many changes.

With there still being opiates in the house it will be tough for you...but you can do it. lean on the power that is greater than all of us...and you can lean on us. Your foundation on this journey can be strengthened by the ESH of others.

When I became totally convinced to the very depths of my soul I had a problem and I asked for help...it was noithing short of a miracle. Tho others in the house still used and/or drank...and i said the alcoholic/addict prayer.."Help Me" the compulsion was removed and it mattered not what they did...What mattered most was how I could live clean and sober and be happy, joyous , and free. It has been 22 years for me and tho I dweal with chrionic pain every day i have been given gifts and tolls that help me to remain clean an sober.
There is a thread on dealing with chronic pain..I apologize..I don't know how to find that to post and not loose where I am.... maybe someone else will come along and show you where those are..or you can do a search...

We are here for you...and with you.

Check with your doctor...It was suggwested tyo me in early recovery to get a complete heck up. We never know how much damage we did to our bodies...and if you are comfortable be honest with your doctor about going off the opiates. he nmay have some additional tools to give you.

Also add more protein to your diet and drink lots of fluids , nonalcoholic, which will also help in detoxing your system

many hugs
Keep us posted on your progress, please.

Welcome to SR I'm glad you found us, I might just try and talk to the doctor about how you are feeling. Blessings.
