| Secular alternatives
Hi is anyone involved in Women for Sobriety? is it a good program? I'm afraid of AA it seems like a cult to me, I am involved in LifeRing and am always looking for some good secular links. I am 45 and believe my relationship with God is between me and Her/Him, but I am also in recovery and that is a life or death mode for me, any help would be appreciated, thanks:p

Hi Liz and welcome to SR. This is a great place for friendship and support and has become and important part of my recovery program. At the risk of sounding not real bright I am an active member of Aa and NA and have been for almost 8 years now. I agree with you, my relationship with my HP is between me and Him. But for me I enjoy hearing about others relationships with their HP and sharing mine with them also. We are all different and that makes the world a wonderful interesting place. The important thing I think is that we are all just trying to stay sober, one day at a time. Again, welcome and I look forward to getting to know you better.

| I have tried
I have tried a number of AA meetings, and God is referenced all over the place! Actually all the whining from the other members was enough to make me drink again, I have found , however that the secular approach has helped me more than ever this is my 24 th day sober and I am doing great! Didin't mean to step on toes of those in AA.

They may refer to God but it's a God of our own understanding meaning it's a personal thing. So God can be anything you want him/her to be. As far as members whining everyone has a different message and it's basically you take what you need and leave the rest. Ngaire |
