| Relapse I have recently relapsed again on New Years Eve. It lasted for 3 days. I found in the midst of it all I had killed everything inside of me. My only solution at this point was to finish the job so I took a bottle of sleeping pills. Someone found me and I spent 4 days in icu. I have been working with my sponsor every since. I know I have to have an spiritual expierence to overcome the obsession so I have gotten busy. When I was in the ER at the hospital a thought came to me and it goes like this; why do you keep trying to take a life that doesn't belong to you? Today I don't want to die. I just want to be happy, joyous and free. Haley |

What a powerful first post. Welcome to Sober Recovery, Haley. I'm so grateful you made it back. I too attempted suicide before and then during recovery, so I do understand. Keep reading, keep posting, keep sharing.

Thank you for sharing that with us. You very well may have saved another life, not just your own. I know 3 people that have relapsed in the last couple of weeks. One, did make it back I am glad you did.

Hi Hayley, Welcome! I am so glad that you have turned around your thinking. Sometimes it takes so much pain for us to be able to begin to live again. You will find lots of support here and I admire your courage.

| We Do Recover | Haley--thank you for being so open/honest with us about that experience. Someone once told me that we often live through some things--not that we get the benefit from it necessarily, but that it may be a benefit to someone else. I'm glad you are still here with us. God will most definitely use that post to reach someone else--I guarantee it.

Haleyy So glad you did not succeed. My sister made it thru a similar situation 1 1/2 years ago. She said she hated waking up w/ a tube down her throat, but after some time passed and the depression lifted she was so glad she lived. I reminded her that the Lord knows the number of her days and not to mess with that anymore. I pray you would stay active in your recovery and keep signing on here! blessings, Sheila |
