| Zoloft.....
Hello! I finally got it so I can post at work! I am so excited! Anyways, my question for the day is this...... I am taking Zoloft for anxiety and mild depression. Anyways, I should mention that I am 14 days sober today. My new issue is that I cannot sleep and I heard that Zoloft can cause insomnia. If this is the case then I am not going to take this anymore! I know what you will all say, talk to your doctor and be honest! Well, I guess I should, but I am not going to right now. I dont want to feel any crazier than I already am by stopping the Zoloft but at the same time, I have to sleep. I have posted about this problem before so I dont mean to repeat myself. I just saw this was one of the side effects so I was just curious. Thanks girls!:p

Hi! I used to take Zoloft and I know what you mean by the insomnia, I also would have splitting migraines and couldn't sleep. I can't recommend stopping without seeing your doctor but I understand, have done it. I am on Remeron right now and i don't like it at all. Congrats on the 14 days sober. I know how long that can seem. I am on day 10 or 11, can't remember!! LOL!! Good to meet ya'! I hope you a wonderful weekend. Many hugs and hope too, Tammie:shades: |

Hi, it might not have started working yet, it took 4 weeks for me. I'm not sure how long you've been taking it for? I've stopped taking it now (tapered off with doctor's help) because I was sleeping too much. There are maybe as many different reactions as there are people, because it works on chemicals in the brain and we're all wired differently. You could try cutting down on coffee if you drink it during the day. Exercise is a great way to get your body tired, which will make it want to rest. You might have to be patient about this one, it takes time for the body to adjust to sobriety. If you drank for a long time, its going to take a while for your body to right itself. Relaxation techniques and meditation are good also. Some people are just bad sleepers and always have been. Congrats on 14 days! Hope you can find a way to sleep that works for you. Amy |

sounds like you have a case of the f**kits. I can certainly relate to that. I have drank and used over them many, many times. What I have finally realized is that, for me, drinking and using always makes it worse. Some times I want to escape, or just throw in the towel and say F**kit and run back to my old friends, the last time it was RX drugs and 100 proof vodka. If I am going to change roommates, a job etc..., I make better decisions when my mind is clear. There is nothing that drinking can't make worse. |

LG, Thanks! I remember well being there too. Signed all the papers I need to was leaving 7/8 what I had to the wife and kids had the passport and was on my way to Antigua. Thank God a friend of mine stopped me.. by the way he was a cop. Just a year ago now... you should see the video with him trying to count 25,000.00 dollars on the hood of the squad. Had already wired enough money to the island to live well till I died from drinking. I owe my life to Officer McKinley... a real friend...even if he did make me stay in jail for a few days..he is still a great friend, though not an "A". LOL Anyway..remember if you are using, things are not as they appear. It will get better being sober, however it does take time...how much? I don't know am still on the journey. Want to join us? Any time is the right time. Welcome to the club ...at least you do know that you do have a problem that's half of it..come join us and share your pain and fears. I have them too. Good thoughts to you, Vinnie

Good grief....Pauline I did it again. Seems like old times. LOL Sorry ladies didn't mean to interject where not wanted. I hate it when this happens!!!! soOOO the only thing I can do is invoke the "honorary woman" title. Again pardon me just a guy who gets confused as to where he is on the threads. May all of you have a great 24. Blessings, Vinnie

Hi LettingGo ... Just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I, too have fallen off the wagon. I have been so ashamed of myself that I have been avoiding this website. I think you will find some phenomenal support here, so don't run away like I did!! I have taken Zoloft myself. The jitters lasts about two weeks, then goes away. If you can get through that you will be fine. The Zoloft really really helps curb the desire to take drugs. Not completely but more so than going it alone. It's a great appetite suppressant too!! Although I've never used Klonopin (I'm a painkiller girl myself), I did see a biography about Stevie Nicks and she talks about her abuse and recovery from it. Have you seen it? I think it's on of those VH-1 biographies. Please keep in touch with everyone here and let us know how you are doing. Catherine |

Letting Go, There are other anti-depressants that don't necessarily cause insomnia. There are also some that help for sleep. I take two myself. Paxil for my anxiety, and trazodone for sleep. For me it's a good combination. I know you said that you don't want to talk to your Dr., but there's no need for you to suffer. Also, I'm don't remeber if you said you drank or what you used, but it can be unsafe to drink and abuse other types of drugs when your taking anti-depressants. Take care of yourself, that means your body, mind and spirit. Juls P.S. Hope I don't sound preachy. |
