I did it!!

I went out last night & didn't have a DROP of alcohol!!! But, of course, I was just getting over a very bad strain of the flu. But I'm so proud of myself!!

That's awesome! You'll be that much stronger for the next time.
Did you go to a bar? Be careful!

Good work Observer!

But, Rowan is right. I found it too stressful to be in drinking situations when I was newly sober.

Yes I did... that's where the bands play that I follow. It honestly wasn't a problem last night. I've been drinking a LOT less lately. Last night, I just decided to not drink at all. And I left WHEN my friends left... not AFTER! AND, I didn't stop off at the other bar like I usually do!! BIIIIIG accomplishment!!!

You're right, it is a big accomplishment, and I'm very proud of you. But when you're feeling better, and a bit of time has passed, you might not remember the horrible shape drinking had got you in - and the drink will be right there waiting. I speak from experience. Sobriety is a way of life, and unless you have a legitimate reason to be where alcohol is served, many find it too tempting to be around - in early sobriety and beyond. Take this with a grain of salt, observer; I'm only saying this because I care.

Wink

Observer

You have a right to be proud of yourself.... you did good.

In our Big Book it says..."there will come a time when we have no defense against the first ddrink...." so tread carefully here....

Have you concidered trying to find some meetings in yourarea? there you will find many tryin to dothis same journey and possibly find some frends that wuld like to hang out and do coffeee or just want ot hangout with.

I ound for me, in early sobreiety, I had to either remain in safe places and/or hang out with others that were on the same journey as I was and it did not take long for me to figure out those fiends that I partied with were not true friends...so I began finding friends that could be there for me in tgood times and in the tough times and share with me their experence strength and hope so that I was able to stick around for a great number of 24 hours.

I hope you come bake often and keep postng and sharing
