| Day 14 for me
Hi there, I have been searching for somewhere else to post and read as the one forum I have found that I had been using I can't get into. This forum seems to be just as supportive. I am a 42 year old mother of two who up until about 5 years ago was a sociable drinker, no more. Somehow the wine took over and I tried to start quitting about 2 years ago. I would make it a day, maybe two, one or twice I went four or five days. Never very long, and always after a huge bout of drinking. At the end of it I would always drink at least one bottle of wine a night, if a second was open I might try to empty that one too. I finally went to an AA meeting on February 18 and stayed sober for 17 days, went away on vacation and drank every day. Went back to an AA meeting on March 25 and have not had a drink since. I am not going to the AA meetings now, really struggled with them. I know many have benefitted from them but don't believe that's the route for me, a personal choice. I have decided alcohol is a poison to me, simply put. I would no sooner drink javex and treat wine in the same capacity, but every once in a while that devil comes into my head and tries to make me see I can have ~just one glass~. I know that's not true. Anyway, I'm sorry to ramble. I just needed a place to post something today, thank you for being here. |

Hi and Welcome, Alcohol is poison for me too! I'm glad you found us and this is a very supportive community. AA does work for many, but I am not an AA person either. There are many roads to recovery and the main thing is that you do what works for you. Keep reading and posting!

Hi Yorkie, Welcome to SR! AA is what finally worked for me, but I know it's not for everybody. Coming here has been vital to my recovery. There is so much love and support here. I hope that you keep posting and let us get to know you. Rowan Last edited by Rowan; 02-05-2008 at 09:05 AM. |

You are certainly not rambling...you are sharing who you are so we can get to know you, love you and support you. have you thought about checking out the AA meetings? Fantastic way to get to know people right where you are that can also love and encourage you. This forum is fantastic. Heere you can rant and ramble when things are going on. We are Sisters in Sobriety. There is power in a group of women. Come back often and let us know how you are doing and can encourage you more... By now if you continued your path to healthy living you would be 18 days..Cause to give yourself spome major kudos and atta girl's. Thank you for posting
