Good God and holi ****! I was looking up ear infections to see if there was anything else I could do and found out that I have all the dam symtioms of menieres disease! All these dam stupid years, test ect... No one once said nothing about menieres! This new doctor I go to is setting me up to see an ENT specialist, but now that I know what may be the cause of me being hard of hearing and a true blue dizzy blond I'm angry and relieved at the same time. Whaaaaaaaa!!! Nothing much the doctors can do I think, but I want this taken care of! GG, how can the doctors not get it right! #$%$#&*&@#$%%%^&^&*(*&^%^###holes! I will find out and tell everyone!

Hi Zoomer,

your post reminded me of my first month of sobriety. I read everything I could get my hands on relating to health especially mental and emotional stuff. I had diagnosed myself with several personality disorders, a couple of diseases and permanent brain damage of different kinds. I used the lists of symptoms as a guide which was a big mistake! Many symptoms of illnesses are not specific to any one illness.

Getting myself checked out by my doctor was so much easier and I also learned that there's no use worrying until I have found out the facts anyway.

Get it checked out so you can have some peace of mind or begin treatment, whatever the case may be but try not to diagnose yourself! I think it's good to listen to your instincts too and get another opinion if you're not satisfied with the diagnosis.

Love

Amy

Hey Amy, LOL,your probibly right! Today is 40 days sober for me, and I'm not use to sitting still. I still hurt real bad and was trying to figure out what more could I do to help myself! GG, thanks for the reality check! It's allergy season too and I'm prone to that! Thanks again!

Zoomer,

congrats on your 40 days! You've come such a long way in a short space of time it's been awesome to watch. Your energy levels will settle down, as I'm sure you already know. I hope you don't have to wait too long to see your specialist?

Yes, I finished my bookcase today! Gave it a light sand and then a couple of coats of paint. I know I went against your advice but I just thought I'd save time as the wood underneath wasn't nice anyway. Ok, so I was just a little impatient. I hope it'll be ok?

Next up is a dressing table I've hung on to for about 14 years intending to refinish. It's got a lot of damage to the surface but it's a beautiful dark wood and nice shape. I have an electric sander on loan...which reminds me...a friend from AA bought me sandpaper, stripper, scrapy things for stripping paint, a block of cork for sanding and lent me a sander! With a new extension cord! I was talking about how excited I was to get started but sure didn't expect that.

So...any tips?

Hey Amy, when you sand old stuff it might contain old paint that might have lead, make sure you cover your mouth, nose ad eyes (protective gear) you can buy face mask for pinnies at the hard wear store and wear sun glasses for protection if you don't own glasses!

Hey zoomer -

I am with DB, don't panic - go see the ENT and bet checked out.

I have probalby said this before, but I have had the same dr. since I first got sober, and you should see the size of my file (LOL - it is huge). the first couple of years I was going to see her all the time, I did not even know what it felt like to come down with a normal cold. That may sound funny but I did not know my body at all and I was scared. I was scared that I had damaged it so much over the years of using that when I felt sick of any kind I would run to the dr right away. She commented a few years ago that she is happy that I finally got to know my body better and we laughed about it.

So sit tight and go to the ENT and you will get the help you need. Okay....did you hear that LOL!

My mother died of colon cancer, and I'm scheduled for a colonscopy on the 14th of April. I'm worried about the procedure because they have to dope you up with demerol and valium, and I'm nervous to take the meds. My Kaiser Dr.'s don't know about my experience with addiction, but I don't think I could that test straight.

Also the day before, you have nothing but jello, soda, and clear liquid. If I don't eat for a few hours I faint, really. Then you have to drink a gallon of some liquid, six ounces every ten minutes till it's gone, plus take these laxative pills. And nothing after that but water until your test. I don't know if I can take it. Well, I guess I'll find out.

Zoomer, I hope you ear situation gets taken care of. I've heard of that condition that you mentioned. Is it an disorder of the inner ear? Congrats on your 40 days. Your the bomb.

LOL Juls! Ha, they call my 12 year old "Da bomb", too cute, but accurate her being ADHD! Sorry to "hear" about your test. Hey if ya need to be drugged for it,at least you can enjoy something out of all that! GG, that is an alful lot of fluid intake! My nurse practioner said I would have to have an operation to repair my ear drum because it is so damaged. I said ummmmmmmm I'd rather be hard of hearing then go under the knife LOL!!! But we will see what the specialist say. Good to see ya back on line!

Juls -

About your drs not knowing, why is that? I have kaiser to and my dr knows, even my gyno knows LOL! Just a thought you might want to tell them, there are different drugs that they can give you. Sometimes it does not matter. Last year when I had the surgery to remove the mass of tissue in my arm the surgeon did not care perscribed vicodin like it was tylenol. The same thing when I broke my shoulder in January. but my dr. at kaiser knows and she always takes it into consideration. Just something for you to think about.

As for the not eatting and fainting, have you told them that too? maybe you could spend the night before the test, ya know. That is scary.

You should not have to do that test straight, but in my opinion you should tell them about your addiction.

Jsut my 4 cents worth. I am proud of you for taking that test and taking care of yourself and considering your history.

zoomer - listen to the specialist!!!! it is amazing what they can do now in the operating room, it is amazing what is done out paitient surgery. Be careful, your hearing is a big deal.
