| i am addicted to vicoden
I've been coming to this site for weeks and trying to work up the courage to write this. I've been taking vicoden for months. I've only built up to 11/2to two pills a day, but I also take xanex(2 a day). I know t some of you this is very minor, but I can't stop and it is escalating. I am tired and depressed. I do not sleep and I am barely doing the basic everyday things I need to do. I don't leave my house. I am sinking and I am afraid. I'm out of pills. I am not getting them refilled. I would do anything for my children and I am not going to raise them high. Please help me. I have no car, no childcare, and my husband works 70 hours a week with a 1 hr. commute each way. Meetings are not an option for me. I need to get through these next few days and I don't know what to do. How do I get through this and still take care of my kids. I am sort of panicking here. I am a good mom and I don't want this to effect my kids any more than it already has. I know this has already changed them. Even if they don't know exactly what i am doing, they know something is wrong. Please help me.

I'm sorry but I have no experience with the drugs you are using. I suggest you check these forum out for information http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/drug-addiction/ Blessings

Call your local NA. I take my kids to AA meetings all the time and I bet you can get someone to give you a ride. Where there is a will...there is a way. Even if you decide that AA/NA is not for you, the tools are there and they can refer you to other places to help. One day at a time. Oh, and did you contact the doctor who perscribed them? There is help out there. |

Hi Ayla, I am glad you've taken the step to recognize you need to stop using these drugs and to reach out for help. Here is a good thread I found on vicoden addiction: http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...hlight=vicoden (In Desperate need of Help...Opiate addiction)

Check out the following thread (I hope I cut and pasted it correctly): http://www.soberrecovery.com/forums/...addiction.html (hydrocodone addiction) It's a couple people just now dealing with their hydrocodone/vicoden addiction, supporting one another through their initial withdrawals. I think they'd love to have a newcomer jump in! The physical obsession to use is only part of the disease of addiction. The mental aspect is the toughest one to overcome, that's where the 12 steps of NA come in to play. If you can, try to get to a meeting, or at least call their hotline in your area. Another option is to check out the websites for Narcotics Anonymous, there's online literature that may help you better understand the nature of the disease. You are on a low dose, so it shouldn't be too bad to come off of the meds physically, but you should advise your doctor that you are going to do so, especially with the Xanax, before lowering your dose. Just remember, you aren't alone with this anymore. |
