5 years today. And this site was very important!
Today theres no one to tell that really gets it, how huge it is to be at five years. I have messaged on facebook one friend I met through here....we are friends on facebook and she has remained important to me. However, I got my soberrecovery happy birthday message and I am thrilled. Its such a big deal to have made five years. Even tonight driving home from work, I still will feel blah and recall...this is when I would drink...this is what I couldn't stand before. Its true, we push through, and its worth it. I have my own home now, an amazing boyfriend who doesn't drink - yet is not alcoholic, fun adventure sports, and a great job, my daughter has left home - happily, but I do all this and still have those alcoholic thoughts. But I don't drink on them, if you are out there, push through, it is tough, but there is an end and its worth it. I couldn't imagine the stories I heard of others in AA, about how great things were, I always thought, that's not going to be me, but it is. We are powerful when we stop letting alcohol numb us, cloud our minds, distract us, depress us, ruin our connections with others, and drain us. We cant fight the good fight everyone takes on when we are drunk. Life is hard, but alcohol just has us ducking, we can get through. Stay strong everyone, and thank you sober recovery, you were my go to place when I was alone, depressed, and fighting hard to not drink. I will always be fond of this site and community x
Homeandaway,
Congratulations on 5 years - very inspirational to all!
I read through your blogs this morning and would recommend others perhaps take the time to do so. They are a way point for others who ask many questions about the journey, me.
Thanks for those!!
Grat's again.........
