| Member | Where I Was
I was at the end of a two week accelerated drinking program. I am self employed. I had been drinking so much for so long I kinda neglected the duties that brought in the money. So I decided that as I could not afford both the alcohol and the food. I would eliminate the food. I don’t know if it was the canned spaghetti, The Jack Daniels or the beer that kept me alive (Maybe the beer). It wasn’t pleasant. This past Saturday (Sept 13), After 2 Millers in the morning (that’s the beer that stands clear). I decided what the heck. Think I’ll stop all of this. It can’t be that haaaaaaaaaaaard. The shakes got really bad late in the evening and by midnight I was in a terrible panic. Don’t know why I grabbed the lap top and don’t remember how I found SR. I do remember frantically reading the forum posts looking for information on withdrawal. All of the information I found said I should not do this. It was too late. The next day I’m NewDayNow and feeling just a little better. Now I’m on the forums every chance I get (mostly lurking). This wasn’t the first time I’ve been through the withdrawal. It is the first time I’ve stopped drinking for more than one day. Today is day 4 for me. I’ve spent the day gorging myself on stuff I haven’t eaten in a long time and man is it goooood! I know this is not going to be easy. I’ve already felt the temptation. I am looking forward to my first sober visit with the AA. I feel hope this time. I've spent most of my life building up a tolerance for alcohol . I don’t want to be a drunk anymore. Thanks to all of you. Ed |
