| Turning it all around |
I was looking for an edge to help me through recovery. I had decided the day before when I was kiting my paraglider. It took a lot of energy to fight the 33 foot wing in the strong breeze. Afterwards I was soaked with sweat and I said (out loud) "that's the most work I've done in a very long time" I stopped in my tracks, and thought of how active I used to be. This didn't sound like me. I realized then, I was finished with what life I had created with alcohol. I searched to gain ammo for my cause when I found SR. I then read the info posts about detox and it's dangers it scared the hell out of me. I had a 12 pack in the fridge and put more thought in how I was going to quit. The next day, I did it! I'm on day 3 now, hurray! On day one I decided to take a chance (not recommended) I figured if I had trouble, I'd run for some beer (I'd be sober) to control the shakes or whatever else I'd experience. The only thing I had, and still have, is a headache that is just lingering around. I'm finally on my way, I've finally done it! Thanks SR and all the great members for being there then, now, and hopefully forever!
