Giving

"Gift culture moistens the spirits of all beings with generosity and cooperation."
~Carolyn McVickar Edwards "The Return of The Light"
We often find ourselves consumed with thoughts of what we need.
What's coming our way, or what we would like to come our way.
As a balance, we can then turn our thoughts to giving.
Giving doesn't require a lot of money or time.
I find the best gifts to be gifts of the spirit.
A smile, a kind word or a compliment can make someone's day.
And as we give these gifts of the spirit, we receive as well.
Author Caroline Myss uses a visualization for this.
She says we should go through our day leaving rose petals where we walk.
So...as you go through your day...leave each place you have been, better in some way.
Leave a smile, a laugh, or a good deed.
Moisten the spirits of the beings you walk with.

Nice one!! You know we gave the best material gifts ever this Christmas. We were skint so had to buy them all secondhand - they were funny, original, sometimes had never been used, arty and useful alike. Because they cost next to nothing we could give more, friends recieving them didn't feel embarassed, they knew they were second hand - mind you those same friends have been second hand shopping with us since!!

Just a funny observation that the christmas we thought we had the least to offer we actually had the most.

Yep it was a good lesson to learn - actually fun to learn, accidental, painless and rewarding.

I like smiles too - you can't out do a good smile!
