| Anxiety
As soon as anxiety gets your attention, its job is done. From that point on, there is no good reason to maintain that anxiety. Anxiety can be useful in making you aware of actions that need to be taken. As soon as you have that awareness, anxiety has served its purpose. After that, give your energy to the positive action and not to the anxiety. Undertake to correct the problem and not to helplessly obsess over it. It is good and useful that anxiety can get your attention. Yet it serves no positive purpose for anxiety to overwhelm your thinking. The moment you feel anxiety, look for, and begin to execute, a positive course of action. Quickly choose to let go of that anxiety, for it is of no use to you now. Anxiety never needs to weigh you down. Let it come, let it have its say, and quickly let it go as you take action to move forward. -- Ralph Marston

Back in the day, I was diagnosed with anxiety and panic disorder. I had a panic attack on the way to the Drs. office one morning. On the freeway. Scarey. I rushed in and demanded that the nurse take my blood pressure. I am having a heart attack, I panted. Nope, BP was fine, although the pulse was way up there. Anxiety attack, breathe through my nose, out through my mouth. I got clean and sober. No more anxiety for me. Good, clean living and daily (hourly) prayer. Hmm... works for me.

I used to have anxiety and panic attacks also, Phinny, and I know how they knock the breath right out of you. I had medication but by the time I needed it I was often already into the attack. Today I rarely have them, and when I do I recognize what they are and can stop in my tracks and calm down. It's a gift of recovery that I learned how to do this and it's definitely a better way to live. Prayer helps, and just taking my mind to a peaceful place. Hugs Ann

Hey Phinny...When I breath in through my nose..I envision flowers. And when I blow out through my mouth, I envision candles. This way I get the sweet smell of flowers AND I concentrate on making a wish...Just something that I find positive to do ![]() Hope |
