Oh man, I am watching CNN and Dr Phil is there, in Houston with the evacuees, it is so terribly heartbreaking, and even very, very difficult to even comprehend that this is happening..
Every person has a heartbreaking story.
They say many people will die, in their attics, because they moved there when the water came in, and they had nothing to break through the roof with, and they will die waiting for someone to come and rescue them. It breaks my heart to think of kids, babies, elderly, women and men, animals, that are sitting waiting for someone to come and get them, and noone knows they are there..... I just can't imagine being a parent to a child, not knowing if anyone is coming to save your children...
That's just the people that are in their attics, not including all the people that drown,,,
HOW COULD SOMETHING SO HORRIBLE HAPPEN HERE???
A question so many are asking..

Thank GOD for all the police, and military, and any other rescuers that are there helping, doing all they can, oh and the heathcare workers, so many of these people have not slept in days. They are so short of food. these people deserve so much credit, along with the many angels at truckstops and places along the interstates, sharing the little gas, and food that they have left, with total strangers..
We so need to pull toether as americans and help all we can..
Please, do anything you can, give up something that costs you money every week, give it up for a week, and send the money instead to those suffering, we can't take away the tragedy they have and are continuing to endure, but at this point, doing anything, is a big help. They NEED so much.
I can't imagine losing everything. Some have lost everything, and were poor to begin with, and have large extended families, that have also lost everything, and NONE of them have anything left. But they have eachother,,,,
Please consider doing ALL you can, even if it hurts a bit.. Give anyway..

Love, Becky
We can turn our TV's off and not watch it anymore, because its so upsetting, which is what I have had to do now, but they can't do that, it's reality to them. Please remember that, it's their reality, as you decide what you can do, and what you can give..

Oh Becky, I've had the same problem. I keep turning it off and then back on in search of a miracle. I'm starting to run into people with family members missing. I try to help but, feel helpless so I just pray. Don W

To Everyone,
Praying for the people of La is very helpful. I live in Southeast Texas and we have helped over numerous people. These wonderful people who have lost everything are such a good reminder of how not to give up in the struggle of everyday life. They are getting jobs in the area and are smiling because they are alive. So far I have not met anyone who has lost a loved one. We do know of a close call. A family now living down the street found their husband and father after he was missing for 5 days. He fled to the attic of a friend's house and was rescued by helicopter.I would like to say A HUGE THANK YOU!!!!! to everyone on behalf of all the people in this area for support and prayers. It does my heart and others such good to see how in the time of a crisis that everyone can help and pull together. Regardless to race, creed, sex or religion. This is the TRUE AMERICAN spirit that cannot be broken. Again thank you and God bless.
Heather

Thanks Heather, I am lifted by the stories like yours. Today I recieved an e-mail about a nurse and her experence. I work here at Children's Hospital Boston and it was sent out. I'm don't know how to move it so I'm going to forward it to another member to post for me. I have another story of people helping people. At one of the hospital the nurses were getting run down taking care of patients. The too, were without food and water. They started to give each other IV's so they would have strength to take care of patients. Don W

Hi Don and Heather
I am hearing more and more stories, of the heros... That is actually a lift, through this nightmare.. It does feel a little better to hear of these heros. We have some of the displaced people here already, living in Wisconsin. We had a business in a town about an hour away from where I live, bring a family from I believe the Texas area(where they were displaced to) and they are giving this family a house rent free for I think they said a year, and a JOB..
I also heard on Dr. Phil today that one of his friends (dr phils) was quite well to do, and he took a family, and GAVE them a CONDO, a CAR and a JOB .. It is so inspiring to hearthses stories.
The company that is in Wisconsin that is bringing that family here today, was beginning what they called a pilot program, working with the Red-Cross and the Salvation Army, to urge MORE businesses in our area to do the same thing they are doing.... Isn't that great??
That was all so happy... Great news.

Tonight on Nightline, they were showing stories of the police men that were working, with no food or water all that time, and no home, because they had LOST their homes, and all their belongings, and yet, they were still goping to work... Working these SUPER long hours, in the blistering heat with NO showers, they were having to work LONG hours because SO many of their co-workers had left, walked off the job, and left those remaining to keep peace and order... So SAD..
Then the Doctors and Nurses... Oh how they worked.. Keeping the best care they could for people under the same conditions, with NO electicity, trying to keep people alive..

Oh,a nd they also said they were talking to the police from NYC, and they said 9/11/01 was terrible, BUT at least the police that lived had homes to go home to....

Well, thanks for listening.
Love, Becky
