Early Sober Risers Check-in Thread
sharing your sober thoughts
I also went through treatment back in 1989. I Only stayed sober for just short of three years but, I thank God that the sobriety seed was planted.
It's 4:00 AM here on this early morning
Thank you all for being here and sharing your sober thoughts,

Of course being sober is the first thing we do which means not drunk recovery or recovered means to return to health from sickness it's about recovery not sobriety it's like the other fellowship I'm clean clean means free from dirt has nothing to do with recovery what helps me is pages 8687 and 88 every morning at night one paragraph on the top of page 86 helps me to do a daily inventory at night the book Alcoholics Anonymous helps instructions have been written down for the past 76 years I just tend to keep it simple i complicated my entire life I've learned that even though I was addicted to alcohol and drugs my thinking was the problem and just not drinking didn't solve a thing so I did what a lot of other people have been doing for a number of years stick to the basics
4:38 for me today. Raining here and the temp has dropped 10 degrees in the last hour. The birds were kinda quiet this morning. I guess they're not fans of gloomy weather either. They don't even have a weather channel to peruse but in 21 hrs or so they will be welcoming the sun again--they always do and so shall I. Meanwhile, I'm gonna cook and fill the house with nourishmentsmells. Onward!
a late start today
6:36 AM and I'm in and I forgot to sign in earlier.
Yes, I have been up for a while now and enjoying it much.
Just came in from some time spent outside in a light rain.
As I kicked back in our garage spending time with my coffee, dogs and cats.
The rain is giving the birds and bee hives in the yard a late start today.
A sober day wished for all,
M-Bob

Morning Early Risers.
Been up since 5am. Had several cups
of coffee, made our bed, dressed,
had breakfast and still watching music
videos on tv.
Yesterday was a quiet day for my
husband and I. We are always thankful
for our simple life in sobriety.
Not much happening today either.
Just gonna go with the flow of life
or what ever comes up next to do.
No plans, no stress, no worries, no
fuss, no anger, resentments, turkey
leftovers.
One more step in the right direction
to living a healthy, happy honest life
in recovery.

The war that I was in daily while drinking is over.
Probably for today there will be no trips to jail or the hospital.
Possibly go with the wife when she wakes up to the tide pools ?

What are tide pools?
You seem to enjoy the outdoors a lot,
right?
We also enjoy escaping outdoors to
backyard. Its our garden of paradise
with our inground swimming pool as
the center point, gardens on both sides,
garden in back and a deck in front.
We put up a steel gazebo which I
planted most of my Hibiscus under
and have several or more pole bird
feeders, concrete bird baths, concrete
swan planters, an almost life size statue
of Jesus, a Cross and Mother Mary
for spiritual strength and then
my husbands veggie garden where I
took half of it ....lol
We still are having warmer weather
down here in Baton Rouge, so every
thing is still blooming and has good
color.
Ive been red mulch over all the beds
and still not done. Whew....!!!!
Anyway, our backyard is our special
place to relax, enjoy away from the
craziness of the traffic and noise.
From time to time I can hear a train
during the week on tracks not too far
away and the chiming of the church
bells down the street from us.
Serenity in Sobriety.

4:05 here. Was trying to figure out why I get up so early and pretty much wrote it off to military service but remembered I always had a paper route from like age 11 to 14. Had to get up ultra early back then to get them all delivered before school. I do recall I had a hard time getting up then but now hop out of bed. Times change. I love the quiet of this time of day.
Early rise at 5am.
An early Mc Donald drive thru breakfast
and shopped at a quiet Walmart this
morning and picked up a bag of sunflower
seeds at our Tractor Supply all before the
10 am bell.
I spent yesterday scattering more mulch
while my husband connected a spot light
on my Mother Mary Statue. By nightfall
we were watching The Robe, an awesome
biblical movie, and almost forgot to check
the spot light.
So I quickly went to the window to peer
out and there in all Her Beautiful Glory,
Mary was illuminated by the bright spot
light my husband connected in the ground
to shine upon Her.
She was absolutely gorgeous..!!!!
This morning I filled my bird feeder
and hung it on the tall pole, then
switched the tops of the poles, one
with a red Christmas Tree and white
snowman. Now we need cold Winter
weather to set the mood.
Leaves are still falling and blowing
under our partially closed garage
door. Some leaves are quite large
and probably travel down the street,
down our driveway and into our garage. lol
Well, hoping all continue to learn
as much as you can about your addiction
and apply a treatable program of recovery
to it to ensure a long healthy life filled
with many awesome rewards and gifts.

3:04 AM -- A nice sober day wished for all
Up at 4:30 as usual.
Coffee and then getting ready for work.
Son will hopefully pick up new to him car this afternoon.
Survived a tough week without wanting to drink. I remember how easy it was to drown my sorrows and how much damage I did to myself and others.
Have a good Monday everyone!

booze is never the answer
deal with these issues that come up in life without drinking
thanks for reminding me
drinking used to be my escape route for most everything
today I realize that booze is never the answer.
