I think this has drifted off a bit.....

This mistake happened because you mistook a real beer for a fake beer and couldn't tell the diffrence till a third of the way in

is Na beer really that important to your life look... its caused all this fuss

my only question RC is ...... Is Na beer or any fake alcohol product worth it ?

Alcohol has no place in my home

I personally don't think you have to reset your date.

Yes when going out it is possible that you might be served beer instead of NA beer. It is also possible to get served rye and coke instead of coke, screwdriver instead of orange juice, a Caesar instead of clamato juice. This has happened to people.

One of my ex co-workers is an alcoholic and whenever him and his wife went out he always had her taste his drinks whether it was pop, juice, or clam juice to make sure it didn't have any alcohol in it. And there were times that even the pop had alcohol in it. So it does happen.

As for digesting alcohol by accident, I have done this. I had Nyquil one night and used mouth wash at the dentist when I had my teeth pulled. The alcohol in it just never dawned on me until I took it. Now I just make sure I stick to Dayquil and I use alcohol free mouthwash. I didn't reset my start date.

You're a brave man I had to cut out beer entirely.

Yeah you're right. It's about what comes to our minds and how we deal with it.
Next time just be more careful so there will be no more problem at all.
By the way, I'll just say that you have a strong mind @RandomChance, keep it up.

A more relaxed attitude...

Never one to judge individuals, I tend to think a more relaxed , philosophical attitude is called for. The two biggest mistakes, in recovery, we all tend to fall foul of is to a) be to hard on ourselves and our progress and b) fail to forgive ourselves for any perceived real or imagined transgression of our aims. None of us are perfect, if we realise this and keep things in perspective we'll usually achieve our aims in the end. It's when we fail to realize this and then act on it that the problems start.

no, can't remember where this happened but, there was a case where a guy beat an owi/dui charge. he was at a party drinking from the non-alcoholic punch. well someone spiked that batch. and since he had no knowledge of this and was intentionally trying not to drink, they let him off.
