Obsession/addiction to a new job....... been caught up in it!

New job has had me working many hours a week. The work is challenging on many levels. Throughout this time the urge to escape/not cope, has not been present. But, I have seen the obsession/getting caught up in work leading me away from my program of recovery-schedule wise.
I am grateful for the tools of recovery and connection to others for keeping me going.
I have neglected you all as well. I'm back for today, anyway................ Tomorrow? Not here yet..................
Hope you all have been doing well.
Peace...................

Glad you love your new job!

And, I'm especially glad you're looking for balance.

It's called trading up addictions. Some people become obsessed with work, others with food, shopping, exercising constantly, whatever.

I think some of us have an addictive personality, it's all or nothing at all. We do everything to the extreme, balance isn't in our vocabulary. Some of us get addicted to recovery, diet, exercise, work, religion, etc. etc. Balance is the key as Dee said but it's something we have to work at.

I agree, it sometimes happen when you have this type of personality. It is rather common in fact. For example, concerning food addiction many people tend to become addicted to exercising or a certain diet after they recover from their previous addiction.
The good point here is that you realized it and you can work on it
