| All you got to do is...
Some alcoholics/addicts have a small Monkey on their back and can use any old recovery program so long as they practice it diligently and stay motivated. Some of us have a 900 Lb Gorilla on our back and need the strongest recovery that th Universe has to offer (Higher-Power). The most dangerous misconception in recovery is to assume that what works for the small Monkey will work for the 900 Lb Gorilla. The safest strategy in recovery is to assume the Worst-Case-Scenario and treat the addiction as if it were the 900 Lb Gorilla right from the start. Any Slogan, Cliché or suggestion that starts with: "All you need to do is..." or "Just..." is assuming the small Monkey is the culprit, and therefor, is extremely dangerous. Too little recovery leads to relapse and sometimes death. Too much recovery leads to Life-long Sobriety. "All you got to do is... EVERYTHING!"

I'm one of those addicts that have the 900 lb Gorilla on my back...well a whole troop of 900 Lb Gorilla's on my back. So I've started out from the get go to seek professional help for my addiction. I though it would be best to have a trained professional help me treat my addiction. Rather a bunch of amateurs telling me what to do all the while I'm tussling with those Gorillas.
