Serenity is the deluxe edition of sobriety, which includes peace of mind, acceptance and a starting point for meditation. Without serenity, sobriety may not be worth having. True sobriety rides on the coat-tails of serenity. The next time you can’t sleep at night try asking yourself if sobriety is of any help in this particular situation. Where humility has teaching power, serenity has healing power. That is the power to instill peace of mind. Just because someone was powerless over their drinking or drugging does not mean they have to be powerless over their recovery.

Nice Boleo. You've articulated a longstanding fear of mine and one that delayed my recovery. What if life straight is just as difficult as addicted? Serenity is the key, now all I have to do is learn it. I want the fullness, not just surviving. That's real recovery to me also.

compared to the horrors of addiction being straight is a breeze. i needed to get past detox and i made and continue to make NA meetings. the sersnity talked about was found by me through the fellowship, the steps, helping and getting help, and from a higher power. for myself, just being clean, alone would have been much more challenging. just not chasing the next bag or the next bottle is a great freedom. great comments all around:ghug2 | |
