Make a Gift

Those who achieve are those who give. The greatest leaders are the leaders who are most devoted to service.

Every encounter, every challenge, every relationship, every situation is an opportunity to give of yourself. Each day brings with it new ways to create value for the people around you.

Think of the individuals you most sincerely admire. You'll see that they all make it a habit to give of themselves to life.

It is not always easy to give of yourself. It takes discipline, commitment, creativity, humility, preparation, effort and resilience.

What it brings is true fulfillment. Give your best to each moment, and you fill the world with rich meaning.

Do the work, make the commitment, and discover all the good and valuable things you have to give. Make a gift of who you are, and be amazed at what you become.

As a codependent in recovery, it can be tricky to discern the difference in giving to others at the expense of ourselves and giving the best of ourselves to others.

Just by being the best person we know how to be and sharing our light is a gift that returns more than it ever costs us. Finding balance between giving and taking is what recovery has taught me. I find joy in sharing with others especially when my own experience might light the path for someone who just walked in the door. In return I gain insight and gratitude by remembering how it was, how I got to where I am today and by being reminded that even with its obstacles, recovery truly is a gift that just keeps on giving.

Hugs
