Aquarium Fish Keepers

Saw the one on reptiles thought there has to be others that have fish like me.

I have had a fish tank in my house since the day I was born starting with my Dad. I have always loved keeping fish and find them very relaxing and interesting. Also in all these years I have found that there is a lot to learn about the hobby and that there is a lot of information that may be contradictory so it's good to hear from others that have learned from experience. So I thought that starting this would be cool to hear about peoples fish, tanks, knowledge and some pictures. I'll download some pics when I can figure out how. Flip

Right on Kerbcrawler.

I keep a freshwater community tank with Hatchets, Neons, Glass Catfish, Cory Cats, Loaches, Gouramis, Elephant Nose and a few more assorted fish in a 37 gallon. Price wise Tetras usually range from $2-$6 each and catfish from $4-$10 and the other random fish usually don't exceed more than $15 USD. Happy to here from a fellow members interested in ichthyology. Flip

The catfish I have are a small variety but you can get some that can get around three feet or so for aquariums but they would eat everything in my community tank. There are wild catfish that are huge with heads bigger than ours. I'm don't know much about the farming though.

I'm sure yor three year old would love the fish all the kids that come over to my house always just watch the fish when they are here. Like I said I was born into aquariums and have been hooked since I can remember.

Hey Kerb, I have never made fish food but here is what I found:
How to Make Homemade Fish Food | eHow.com
Seems pretty easy but looks like the more ingredients the better and takes a little time.

Other than that you can always order it from the internet if you can't find it locally. Good luck with the tank.

Cool, I have learned a lot about different species cohabitation. I have had peaceful fresh water community tanks, aggressive freshwater tanks, a saltwater tank, goldfish, an out door pond and am learning about african cichlids from my friends tank. At the moment I have the peaceful freshwater community tank which is what I recommend but whatever your interested in is great. In my tank I have live plants so if your interested in doing the same I can help you set things up for the plants and I can even mail you some of mine, they grow a lot of new ones. In case your wondering about saltwater they are expensive and a pain in the ass to maintain.

Anyway, I am more than willing to help in any way. Ask anything you want to know about. Hopefully I can help. Flip

3 different type of crab eels, dog fish, even flatfish,.spend a lot of time on the beach.

Kerb, I'll try to put some pics up tonite but when I tried in the past on this site I wasn't able to figure it out or which picture format to use to download.

I too love the beach and live about an hour away. The beach is my favorite place to be. I like to fish a lot also but haven't been in a while.

I was wondering. You said fish was your livelihood, do you mind if I ask in what capacity. Flip

Yes they are all live plants and they aren't in pots they are rooted in the gravel mixed with substrate. Thanx for the compliment.
