Of course! What a wonderful bunch you've got there

I would love to have more, if only I had more than 400 sq ft of living space! Fortunately, there are lots of neighbor dogs for her to play with.

ok, who fed the puppy amphetamines??? what happened to the cute SLEEPING puppy? we ran her little legs off yesterday, Henry took her out in the kayak, the big dog swimming alongside and then grabbing the kayak handle and pulling the kayak onshore. we got it on video, funniest damn thing you ever saw. so i thought FOR SURE she'd, well, sleep like a baby last nite. nope, very fitful and wiggly (maybe her little muscles were sore?). and now she and bucky have been going strong since 5am....she's just gotta fall over soon right?

can i trade you one of these dogs for a kitten? PLEASE???? this little sh!t will just not STOP. two times i had her down, and inched myself towards the door, had my coat ON at one point, and then she's up and at 'em again. with this energy level she'd pull her pen right off the wall......she's a bulldog, we had to BOLT it to the wall, just in case.

so i had two choices.....get frustrated beyond belief OR send an email to work and tell them i guess i'm working from HOME this morning!!! fortunately another gal already emailed and said she's got sick kids and will be doing the same thing.

I talked about her at the beginning of the thread
But I can be persuaded to talk about her again!
Her name is Marley, we got her December 7th from a rescue organization. She is a American Stafford Terrier/Boxer mix. She was born October 30th, so a little over 4 months.
Yes, we have no problem sleeping. She sleeps in a crate in the living room and she might whine a little when we first put her in there but then we do not hear from her until about 6am when she "asks" to come out.
She is SUCH a smart doggie but full of energy!

Oh my....such great pics! Thank you all for sharing. I've never put one on a thread but there's one of my 14 yr old baby on my page.

Thank you Zing and Least. I know what you mean about not wanting them to suffer. It was hurting me so much to see him fall and in pain but I can only imagine how it must have been hurting him. Then this week he also started being incontinent. The vet didn't find anything new that would explain anything, so other than old age and arthritis, there is nothing wrong with him.

The vet wanted to put him down today (I hate that term) but after he spent some time with puppy and saw how he acted, he changed his mind. He said he still has too much "spark" in him and seems to still enjoy being with us, so he started him on a steroid shot, changed his anti-inflammatory, gave him something for the incontinence, and increased his pain meds. I'm also going to try that MSM stuff - thanks least. Can't hurt, right.

Thanks again ~

Miss Della had her first vet visit today....she got a clean bill of health, except for round worms, medicine already underway...eyes, ears, temp, everything perfectly normal. he said she's a great looking pup....24.7 pounds. she did get sick on the car ride TO the vet AND on the way home...but handled it all pretty well for a baby. they LOVED her at the vets, everybody said "she's gonna be a BIG dog!!!"

such a relief. our baby is healthy and happy. i've become so attached to this little girl....more than any dog in my life. bucky and i get along, but he's not MY dog, he's hank's dog and it's evident. but this sweet little puppy, she's just stole my heart. i worry over and fret about and care about both dogs...she just feels like MY dog.....

Marley STILL looks just like my doggie - I had to go kiss her head just now (she's asleep on her bed).

Mine is now 8.5 months, 51 pounds. And she can be a bit too smart for her own good sometimes!

(forgive the camera-phone quality)

I don't know what I'd do without the love of my dogs. They make the good days better and the bad days tolerable. Just watching them makes me feel better when I am down. They are my best friends and my kids. My love for them grows each day. I am so grateful for my dogs.

Good morning all! I just wanted to add that I have a "Bailey" registered "Baileys Irish Creme"...never drank that stuff but I am a recovering alcoholic...16 days. Oh, I applaud all of you, especially rescue parents, there is such a need, BRAVO. Bailey's sister who passed 2 years ago was a rescue baby, huge lab mix, thrown by the side of the road as a pup and barely fit in the cage they had her in. That is the first time I saw her still loaded in the Van and crunched in. I tracked her down and couldn't get her out of there fast enough, she couldn't walk very well and was terrified of enclosed areas...oh, thank you, I am such an animal activist. I cannot tolerate the bad actions of humans to a helpless creature. Ok, Bailey remains (13) years she is on my profile pic. She has been my nursemaid when I have blacked out, been in the bathroom being sick (she'd lay at my feet) and I believe every time she would see me take out wine and a glass, she would give me a "dirty look"! Thanks for letting me share and again, thank you for taking responsibility when others don't. Animals are our blessings and should be treated that way! Continued success to us all!:ghug

Good Vet! That is so important when you have an older dog,or any animal, mine 13 yo..steroid shots work well, the anti inflammatorys too. Bay was prescribed Rimadyl, she is a lab and has issues with arthritis or dysplasia (back end weakening)...Rimadyl works really well and I only give to her when needed now.

She has more "spark" than I, especially when it is time to eat!

You will know when things aren't working. I have had many times when I thought "this is it"...I ask for my HP to show me the way and give me strength, daily, for all things.

How lucky are we! Thanks for your post!

I love this thread.

I was able to find homes for my puppies last week. I never gave a thought to how sad, my dog would be with out them though

I've been giving her a lot of loving. I'm going to have to get her fixed ASAP.

Thanks to everyone for posting pictures of their dogs

Asking my fellow dog lovers out there: does your dog(s) 'read your mind'? My beagirl does. I seem to know her thoughts and feelings like when she leaves my den upstairs and goes downstairs. Sometimes I just let her go, but other times I follow her downstairs and ask her if she has to go potty. She goes right for the front door.

I can't tell you how many mornings I've woken out of a sound sleep to find her standing beside the bed looking at me. She wakes up before I do sometimes and has to go out. But she doesn't bark or whine or carry on, just stands beside the bed looking at me. She 'thinks' me awake.

She also seems to know when I'm feeling down cause she'll come over to me for no reason at all and just stand or sit beside me, looking at me. It'll be 11 years this August since we got her and I honestly can't remember what it was like before we had her.... and I'm afraid to think of what it'll be like when she's gone. It will be so hard to give her back to God but when that time comes I'll do whatever is best FOR HER. All I've ever wanted is for her to be happy and healthy. And God is the ONLY other 'person' I'd trust with her care.

Anyone else whose dog(s) read their minds?

PETS' TEN COMMANDMENTS

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3 . Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me pl ease. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so.

Take a moment today to thank God for your pets. Enjoy and take good care of them.

Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.

Now please pass this on to other pet owners. We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and has four legs!

We're having a dog party at my house! I'm keeping my neighbor's two dogs til next weekend. What fun to have four dogs running around the house. Now I'll have four dogs on my bed at night! Crowded but warm! The neighbor's dogs get along well with my cats too. This is going to be a fun week!

All my dogs knew what I had goin around in my head long before I figured it out. i think if you have a good bond you can eventually know what your dog is thinkin too. My dog wakes up and goes to sleep with me everytime I'm sick. I slept with my dog when he had cancer.......... He did it for me the least I can do is return the favor. Animals can be very good friends if you turn the tv off and just hangout with them, it becomes very clear.
