My inkslinger is also in recovery. He used to ink full-time around the Phoenix area, especially at biker events, but only does it on the side for friends now. First ink... ![]() Second ink (one feather for each daughter)... ![]() Third ink (Legs is the nickname my riding buddies gave me)...

Well these aren't the greatest pictures of them but you get the point. This is the sign of the hammer, a spin off of Thor's hammer used by favorite band Manowar. This was taken when it was brand new about 2 1/2 years ago. ![]() My dragon. ![]() And my skull. ![]() Also have a wolf on my shoulder but couldn't get a good enough picture of it. So 4 tatts in all, another 40+ to go! |

| Member | ![]() K - figured it out! Click on the thumbnail for bigger pic, and more detail. I got this Tatt In January this year, after being sober 6 months. Ive since relapsed, but this tattoo giving me the strength to get back on the wagon. Im a Christian, the cross represents Christ, the tricuetra centered in the cross represents the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) The light at the top is for John 8:12 (I am the light of the world whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life) one side of the wings represents Psalm 124:7 (We have escaped like a bird out of the fowlers snare, the snare has been broken and we have escaped) the other side of the wings is Isiah 40:31 (but those who hope in the Lord will renew thier strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint) and the bottom it says Gal 5, Galations 5:1 (It is for freedom that Christ has set you free, stand firm therefore, and do not let yourself be bound again by a yoke of slavery). When I manage to get another 6 months under my belt, Im going to add a daisy chain on either side of the cross, going down to my ankle and up to the back of my knee to represent Christ breakin the "chain" of addiction and bondage. LOL - now Ive shared the pic and given ya a scripture lesson too! I promise that Im not usually such a bible basher, but to know all the components shows the incredible talent of the tattoo artist! I had a vauge picture in my head from something I found on the internet - but he did the rest and added the shading and colour. I love it. |

| ![]() My recovery-oriented tattoo. It's a Confucius quote which says, "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but rising every time we fall." And the cherry blossoms symbolize the transient, ever-changing flow of life.

I have considered getting a tatt....I was thinking of something like a stylised phoenix. Maybe like this?

Stone - that works well. I was considering that one myself. I always seem to "crash and burn" and then end up "rising from the ashes" again. Have you ever felt that way? For me, the Phoenix would be a constant reminder that I will always rise up again "better than ever" (even if it takes a few tries).

| SHARING THE LOAD | mavarick stepping
as a personal ritual of the third step I got a tatto of a symbol that had been in my wallet for three years. A celtic knot of green on the knook of my left shoulder. It always reminds me that all things are interconnected. I'll have to post a picture of it soon.

I have have an old japanese style peony tattoo that i got a year and a half ago, but at that time I wasn't sober. I am currently planning to get a huuge backpiece in a similar style. It will probably take many sittings, so it will evolve with my recovery- with all the money I haven't spend on booze. I will probably start in december or january, depending on my financial situation. |

| FREAKING AWESOME! |
I've been thinking about getting a recovery tattoo but I don't know what I want. Some kind of symbol with some kind of saying. I'm thinking a buddist or Taoist saying or symbol. I know there is the flower, can't remember what it is right now, a lilly of somesort I think. I'll take any suggestions....it will be my first tat! I was thinking of getting it on my foot or between my shoulders.

In '07 me, my husband, and our friends lost a dear dear friend in Afghanistan to enemy fire. 3 months later I went through detox. That same summer my best friend and her husband survived a terrible blow to their marriage. This tattoo represents all me and my best friend over came and helped each other through. I relapsed the next year but am now 60 days sober again.

I got my first tat on my 20th birthday. Say it with me now: I got a butterfly on my leg, about halfway up my calf. LOL Yeah, I totally feel like a rebel. Here's the next one I want, maybe on my back:
