I've not read much of Evanovich cause there are two ladies at work who ADORE her, and they talk about the character all the time (you know, like maybe she just works down the hall in another office?)... so I sorta get the book without reading! Ok, I am currently reading a WIERD ONE!! Android's Dream? It is about genetic manipulation in some future society? Sorta spacey, even for me!

Golden Gutters - that's how *I* read as well - a 'bathroom' book ... a 'living room' book and a bedroom book. I've got *no* bookright now - waiting for payday ... then hit the secondhand store. ROWAN _ READ ANGELA'S ASHES !!!!!!!!!! McCourt is fantabulous !!!! "Teacher Man" is wonderful as well!!!! His brother wrote one too - (Malachy McCourt) 'A Monk Swimmin' ... excellent humor. (the title comes from when they were kids in catholic school - and he thought it was "hail Mary blessed a monk swimmin' instead of 'Amongst Women') LOLOL I haven't read all of it - only excerpts - but it's on the list of the ones I'm going to look for at the second hand book store after payday. I'm a huge McCourt fan!!!

*Evanovich* the problem with me is - if I read a few books by the same author - I 'figure them out' and then don't enjoy the books any more. the Evanovich books - well it took like six of them before it became too much for me any more.

I'm not really into the Evanvich books either. I really like the "trade paperbacks" (they feel so comfortable in your hands,) and I usually buy all the best sellers in trades. Here's an interesting tidbit..well maybe not...anyway I joined a website called "Bookcrossings" and you leave books all over the U.S. kind of interesting. I have yet to do it though, but I'm planning on doing it... I'm still reading "In search of Eden"

I just went to the Malachy McCourt webpage - it lists all he's done ... anyhow - got to the very last line ... very last thing it says ... "This page and all occurring within it ... my thanks to Bill W." -!- didn't know that! he's one of US !!!! making him ... even BETTER now.

One of my recent favorites is a book called Skeletons on the Zafara by Dean King. It is a true story and I couldn't put it down. have turned it on to 3 others and they loved it. You can look it up on Amazon.com and see the description and reviews. I really enjoy biographies and non-fiction. Also read Dry and Running with Scissors -- both good.

I finished "Searching for Eden" It seems to be one of those stories where, by the middle, you know the ending...so, I was kind of disappointed... Well, on to the next book! I'm hoping to start "The Emperor's Children" by Claire Messud about 3 friends, fate and fortune, on the cusp of their thirties... I also have "Chicken Soup for the BEACH lover's soul" (But I'm not starting that one until I am ON the beach! Happy reading everyone,

Heading towards the bookstore today, hoping to find something interesting for vacation... Has anyone read "Three Cups of Tea?" I also read "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen I thought it was a wonderful read... It has circus ambiance, and a love situation.

I'm going to start a book about an Irish Dr. Can't remember the name right now. I looked high and low for the Swimming with the monks book, but couldn't find it...

My sister just loaned me Kite Runner and I'm really looking forward to reading it. Right now reading Smashed by Koren Zailckas. My daughter read it and said if I wanted to know what she was doing in her late teens early 20's, to read it...she could have written it. Kate Atkinson's One Good Turn is enjoyable light reading.. Sue Miller is another author I enjoy...particularly the World Below. I think I have read all of John Grisham's books and most Ann Rule. Moose I love Angela's Ashes too. If you enjoy artfully written works, Ahab's Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund is truly memorable. It's a book I read word by word just savoring how the sentences flowed...just beautiful...a book I never wanted to end. Oh...and the Secret Life of Bees...what a wonderful story. I was disappointed with the Mermaid Chair...Secret Life of Bees was just so good that there was no comparison.

Greet, I read "The Secret life of bees", I agree wonderful story, and like you, disappointed in her second book, but she would have had a hard time topping "Bees", it was that good. I read "Ahabs Wife" last summer. I picked it up because it was a thick book, and it was a good story...but kind of became lengthy for me. Just started "An Irish Country Doctor" by Patrick Taylor, it's starting out pretty cute, and seems like it'll be enjoyable to read, if I can find the time. I keep picking up "eat, Pray, Love" and the synopsis on the back cover didn't peak my interest for some reason. Happy reading everyone.

Hi, everyone! I'm a huuuuuuuuuuge bookworm! I'm currently reading the His Dark Materials trilogy, which technically is a kids' book -- but, in the vein of Harry Potter, appeals to everyone. The last book I read was actually several books in one: The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide, which was the entire The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series in one leather-bound book. This is one of my desert island books; I'm absolutely in love with it.

I picked up "fall on your knees" by McDonald, and I've just started it again. Very rarely do I read a book twice, but I read this one years ago, and it was SOOO good, I thought I'd read it again! (just wish I wouldn't have given away my first copy!) Bella, what is the story in the "Hitchhiker" book? I think I looked at it once, and I don't seem to remember. I finished "An Irish Country Doctor" it was a cute nice rolling story. Kind of like a James Herriot kind of story.

I loved Eat Pray Love too jerect. I put off reading it for a long time because I thought it would be just another 'self-help' book, but it wasn't at all like that. And it was funny too. I loved it a lot.

| It's kind of hard to describe, but it's basically a madcap adventure set in outer space. It's very non-linear, quite satirical, and has a ton of heart. The style is probably not for everyone, but if you do get into it, you'll probably fall in love with the characters as I did.

Sounds pretty good, I may have to try it. I just started reading "Past Secrets" by Cathy Kelly (I haven't gotten to any secrets yet But it sounded kind of interesting: From the outside, the welcoming garden adorned houses of Summer Street are the picture of Irish charm. BUT, on the insode, unexpected and heartbreaking secrets swirl..... I'll let you know....
